Listened to the Patriots radio call on XM for part of the second and third quarters when I was on the way home from work. The color guy (not sure his name) was absolutely gleeful in his ripping of Tebow, almost to an unseemly level.

Believe you're referring to Patriots and AFL hall of famer Gino Cappelletti. He's ancient, and there's been some recent sentiment that it should be his last season in the radio booth:

I agree with Brian that Tebow needs to improve his passing to survive. Most of all, he has to stop dithering back there. No one has ever questioned the guy's determination and work ethic, so I assume he'll put in as much effort as he can on this task. So it's up to Denver to provide the right coach or coaching to help him.
I do wonder, frankly, if the guy's smart enough to make the leap in grade. Take the religion out of Tebow's public comments, and there isn't much there there. Reminded me of my early encounters with Michael Vick. Not exactly dumb, just kind of vacant.

Are you saying Tebow is going to go on the lam in Greece?

Hey, New England's defense only gave up 10 points last night. I think they deserve more credit than Brady. I'm sure once Brady retires, the Patriots will continue steamrolling, right?

Do I even need to hit the blue key?

Looking forward to watching Tebow play next season. Every team he has played twice seems to have done better second time against him?

That's true and was evident in spades last night. Patriots broke it down very easily. Tebow absolutely needs to be able to hit open receivers on short, chain-moving routes. That's the undeniable hole in his game and it is a big one.

Being able to hit open receivers in short, chain-moving routes is probably the first thing you need to be able to do to be an NFL quarterback. Usually, when you can't do that, you GTFO in August camp.

It's a miracle of circumstance that the Broncos were able to sustain winning without a QB who was able to do that. But to be honest, I'm not sure that Orton wasn't their better option. At the end of the day, Orton beat more playoff teams as a starter this year than Tebow, 2-0.

But here's the thing. Denver changed its mindset when they let go of Orton. It became a plan where they weren't going to let their own QB beat them. It certainly seemed like when Orton was QB, they were still asking their QB to try to make plays and put points on the board. If he had gone out there with these top five goals: 1. Don't turn it over. 2. Don't turn it over. 3. Don't turn it over. 4. Don't turn it over and 5. Move the ball if you can, then yeah, he could have done that too.

But I don't think that was ever an emphasis with Orton. If it became one, I certainly think he could have pulled it off.

That was how the Bears used Orton early in his career and they had some success that way, but realized that the upside playing that way was quite limited. Hence the switch to Grossman.

Brian, I don't know what you are even raging against anymore. You are either the world's biggest Kyle Orton fan or you can't handle anything that is a bit different. The Tebow experiment worked for the Broncos this year. Kyle Orton was losing games for them. I don't mean he was the losing quarterback of record, I mean he was giving the other team the ball near the goal line and oftentimes just letting them take it all the way in. Tebow changed that.

If you try to understand that, you will see what happened. If not, you can just celebrate New Orleans Saints, 2011 fantasy and arena league champions.

You don't get to pick and choose now, after hoisting him so high.

LTL should participate in the Combine this spring. He would do very well in the backpedaling drill.
