All-purpose, running Tim Tebow sucks/is a deity thread!

    I disagree.
This is a solid kid and if you can't see that, then you are being clouded by anger.
    Women like him.
Mothers want him to marry their daughters.
    Dudes like him.
    Religious fanatics like him.
    Atheists like him.
You can't stand it because he truly cuts across the culture, all stippled areas of it.

Don't forget the Saints. They too are shopping.

Haven't read a running NFL thread here, have you?

The persecution complex from Tebow supporters is something else. Sometimes, people just don't like Tebow b/c he shoves his faith down our throats. And 100 percent of the time, we don't dislike him and choose to like Ray Lewis, Michael Vick, Antonio Cromartie, Ben Roetlisrapist, et al, instead.

Yeah, I'm sure Drew Brees wouldn't be able to do anything with a defense with Elvis Dumervil, Champ Bailey, Vonn Miller, etc. ::)

What the hell are you talking about? When he goes half a game without generating a single flipping first down while his defense plays its ass off to keep the game from getting out of hand, then he pieces together a drive at the end to win it and is proclaimed a hero for it, how the hell are reasonable followers of football supposed to act?

I can only speak for myself, but I'm not anti-Tebow. I'm anti making the guy out to be more than what he is. Your definition of "hating" Tebow is not accepting your asserton that he deserves the credit he gets for a team that was winning because of its defense.

Again, I go back to my original point: He deserves no more love for his role in what he did this year than Trent Dilfer (Dilfer actually deserved much more love because "all he does is win Super Bowls.") or Alex Smith (who also deserves more credit, considering he has his team a win away from the Super Bowl). But instead, he was bigger than Brady, Brees and Rodgers, three QBs who are light years better than Tebow.

That's what I have a problem with. If that amounts to hate for Tebow in your eyes, so be it.

Did Reggie White get this much hate? He was exponentially more obnoxious about his religion.

Generally speaking, no. They pretty much bore the fuck out of me.

That's part of my point. Tebow got me interested in a team other than the Packers for no other reason than he seems like a decent, enthusiastic player. It was fun to follow along and tweak guys like you who froth at the mouth whenever his name is mentioned in connection with something positive.

As for shoving his faith down my throat like you harp about, I've never felt like that for a minute. I'm not a religious person at all and not once have I ever felt like I needed to brush up on the scriptures in order to be able to cheer for him.

From my perspective, the attention White got was proportional to his ability as a player. I have no problem with his, or Tebow's religion. The only objection I have to religion as it relates to Tebow is how it's used to color people's perception of him as a player.

Rather have Tebow shove his faith down my throat than Roethlisberger shove ...

First of all, read BrianGriffin's post. He really nailed it regarding how blown out of proportion the Tebow worship became. The funny part is that a day after the Broncos got their asses kicked, I still saw a bunch of kids Tebowing today.

Yes, a lot of people love the guy. That doesn't mean he's a good person. Lots of people loved Kirby Puckett, too, just to cite one example.

Not as loud as the one that goes off on your computer every time I post.
