Jay Cutler's looking really good right about now.

Let's not forget how he threw three picks in the 2001 AFC title game and lost to a Patriots team that scored two TDs on special teams and a third fired from the right arm of the corpse of Drew Bledsoe.

(Sorry man, I know you haven't forgotten that)

I presume that since you didn't say anything about the 1997 team, you agree that he was a pretty darn good quarterback that year. Common ground!

The 2001 team got five touchdowns from the defense? OK I will adjust -- the offense scored 24 points a game instead of 26. Still not bad. Definitely a good enough performance.

At least you didn't hate Kordell for his lifestyle, though. Big of you.

I don't really know what we're arguing anymore, to be honest, and for my part in pushing the discussion too far afield I apologize.

Here are the points, to recap:

    1) Tebow has a lot of work to do.

    2) Fox, Tebow and the Broncos found a very unconventional but somewhat successful formula that led to an 8-5 record including a playoff victory. It was a formula built on defense first, as many formulas throughout the game's history have been.

    3) Tebow's passing numbers, which many of you have billed as historically bad, are in reality on par with/not that far below the early performances of many quarterbacks in the league who have gone on to win Super Bowls and MVPs and Super Bowl MVPs. His running numbers are unique enough to put him in a very small subset of maybe five quarterbacks all-time who have had such impact on games. And his fourth-quarter magic, head-scratching as it is, happens regularly enough that there's a pretty good chance the reason is something other than luck or God.

I really think most people get that after all this time. oop disagrees, and although I think he mischaracterizes me and others as "Tebow worshippers" who say Tebow is the only one doing anything right, I think he also realizes that there are some good things Tebow is doing and that he is at least a survivor right now. His part in the debate is based solely on football criteria.

Then we have people like BYH who wouldn't even be commenting if Tebow weren't an evangelical Christian, BrianGriffin whon wouldn't even be commenting if Tebow hadn't gone to Florida, and Herbert Anchovy who wouldn't even be commenting if Tebow were more "honorable."

Strange debate. Too bad. Y'all missed the story of the year.

None of us missed it. To see it differently than you do is not to miss it.

    Performance art.

Not you, oop. The people who are arguing about it for reasons that have nothing to do with football.

I agree. The idea that someone in the 21st century can express hatred for a public figure solely because of his religion? That can't be real. You have done a nice job ghosting the more intolerant parts of the country.

Again dude, you are so far off the point, you must be willfully ignorant. Hence the performance art moniker.

I'm not going to couch this in hondo-esque speak. I do not hate anyone for his or her religion. I never have and I never will. I do hate when people cram it down my throat, whether they are Christian, Catholic, Muslim or Other, and when they insist god is to credit for their success.

Understand the fucking difference and stop fucking misrepresenting me.
