If you run 70 inches of UFC/MMA stuff, do you skip the Elite 8, NBA, NHL and MLB?

Well, yeah, there's that too. I'm considering chainsawing the mainbar down to 20-25 inches and running it Sunday.

That really wouldn't be a bad thing. 70 inches on ANYTHING is too much.

UFC owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta have purchased Pride FC (now Pride World Wide), the top rival to their organization.
This is absolutely huge news in the world of mixed martial arts. Also, the Associated Press has an article on the sale and ESPN.com is linking to the article under their ''top stories'' section. One of the things other journalists have said MMA needs to break through to earn mainstream coverage is have AP start covering their news and have unified rules for the top organizations. Both seem to be happening, now.

Lorenzo's quote in the story about making MMA as "big around the world as soccer" made me laugh and laugh.

I saw the fight. It was an upset. Nick Diaz won though. I mean he really won.

    It doesn't matter though.

Takanori Gomi lost. He wasn't supposed to. He was the favourite. He lost though. Diaz won. If you watched the fight Diaz really won.

However Diaz had smoked weed. Therefore, I guess, it doesn't count. The fight is now officially a no-contest. It was a Pride show promoted in Vegas and, thus, the Nevada State Athletic Commission rule the roost.

It's not the suspension that I object to. I mean, Diaz was already on six month medical suspension because Gomi broke his orbital bone. It's the changing of the bout result. Diaz won, and I doubt he was smoking weed as a performance enhancing drug.

Delta-9-THC is an active ingredient in marijuana.

In fact, here is the fight with English commentary...

I still can't believe GSP lost. What was that?

I was surprised by that, too. Especially since he looked so awesome against Hughes.

  11. Ultimate Fighter 4 is now officially a fiasco. Lutter couldn't even make weight for his middleweight title shot and now the Hughes-GSP big money rematch is out the window because GSP lost to a middling fighter.

Actually, I think the season is now validated. Serra likely gets Hughes and winner of that match should get GSP, provided he wins his next match.
If it's Serra or Hughes, it creates a big rematch and likely in Canada at that. Plus Serra and Hughes hate each other, so there's some good drama there. I think GSP comes back from this even better than he was - maybe he'll have a mean streak in him now.
