Simers got his point across pretty clearly in this one:

Boring. Four columns of whining and bitching. Was he pissed because he had to attend something he doesn't personally like? Or was he just venting to vent because it's all he has to do until he's laid off? I've never read this guy before but he comes off as just another old man complaining.

    Boo-effing-hoo, Simers.

Seems like every time I read something of his, he's complaining.

Outing alert: Simers = spnited :)

Come on, Sonner, you know Spnited would never travel west of the Delaware let alone work that far from the East Coast.

Who the hell is this Carwin character, and should we expect anything less than a first-round KO by Lesnar?

He's a hard-puncher, 11-0 I think with all early stoppages. I think his longest fight was a shade over two minutes and that was his debut. He's won mostly dark matches against tomato cans, but he did turn a few heads with his TKO win over Gonzaga.

The whole thing is he talked shit about Lesnar on a blog after Lesnar beat Mir, so the UFC is doing the WWE thing and trying to develop that rivalry. But yeah, I'd be surprised if the fight is longer than 90 seconds and I'll be surprised if Carwin is the one getting his hand raised.

Was anyone else happy to see Gina Cerano get her ass whupped?

Wouldn't say I was happy, but it was nice to see her taken down a notch. I think it's mainly because they've hyped her up so much and she's never made weight for any of her fights yet they overlook it.

She's always much bigger than her opponent (which usually has made) weight. This time, she looked like the tiny one in the cage and was getting thrown all around.

Funny thing is that both her and Cyborg made weight for this fight, and both fighters seemed to gas in the first minute. Maybe they spent so much trying to make weight that they were drained by the time the fight happened.

I don't know if the crowd was really that hyped (or if Showtime was sweetening the broadcast), but I've never heard a crowd that excited for one minute of fighting.

Dave Meltzer has a good piece on Carwin up at Yahoo Sports.

Mark Kerr is fighting King Mo on August 27th. I can't see that working out well.

    A recent picture of Kerr...

Also, someone has put, "The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Mark Kerr" up on You Tube. It's an interesting documentary.

I'm not a big fan of the Showtime series in general. I think the old Pride was the best, I loved some of those fights with guys like Pedro Rizzo and Heath Herring. And that Semi Shultz guy was unbelievable to watch. UFC seems way too "produced" for me. Same for the Showtime series.
