I've been following War Machine on Twitter the past few weeks. It’s fascinating. He comes across like a ticking time bomb.

    Hey Mr 7134

I appreciate the work you do to keep the thread going. I read some of the other sites and blogs but this is a handy way for me to catch up!

The countdown show for UFC 107 (which is headlined by BJ Penn defending his lightweight title against Diego Sanchez, with chief support from Frank Mir Vs Cheick Kongo) was all kinds of great.

Diego Sanchez is crazy, and Frank Mir is Frank Mir. They both make for great TV.

As Dave Meltzer said about Frank Mir on the show...

Diego Sanchez is not all there.

Anybody who meditates outside during a lightning storm is pretty fucked up in the head.

I never heard this story before. Extracted from a Dave Meltzer piece on BJ Penn.

So, BJ Penn beat the hell out of Diego Sanchez prior to stopping him on cuts in the fifth. It was pretty much a five round slaughter.

Frank Mir knocked Kongo down with a punch and then put him to sleep with a choke. Fight took one minute twelve seconds.

I just saw the Penn-Sanchez highlights, and it looked like there was a LOT of blood on the canvas from previous fights.

But yeah, at least from the highlights, Penn beat the piss out of Sanchez. Wasn't Penn the guy who jumped out of a 3 foot pool without using his hands? Reeeedonkulous.

The cut on his forehead that stopped the fight was ridiculous. Good PPV all the way around. I came in during the Struve fight and I had never heard of the guy. I thought it was a 6'2" guy fighting a 5'5" guy at 170 Lbs. No idea that they were heavyweights until I was told that Struve is 6"11".

Penn was amazing. I am wondering if he wants another go at GSP @ 170.

    Poor Diego.

It will be interesting to see what happens to him after the Penn fight. It's the first time he's ever been stopped, and Diego (before dropping decisions to Fitch and Koscheck) thought that it was his destiny to retire undefeated. Diego’s a legitimately kooky cat. He genuinely believed that at one stage. Even in his previous losses no one ever treated him like Penn did. Penn was better on every level, beat the shit out of him and did it with such absolute ease. I wonder how Diego will come back from that mentally. Even physically he might be different. Beatings like the one he got can age a fighter. Ultimately, I guess life isn't fair.

Penn has trained hard for his last two fights. He hasn't gassed in the later rounds. Prior to that though he never trained like a top-level fighter. Sure, he trained. Not like other fighters though. What’s more he was still great.

If God created one person alive to be an MMA fighter it's BJ Penn. This is a guy who in three and half years not only became a BJJ black belt but also became the first ever non-native to win a black belt division at the Mundials. Freddie Roach reckons he's the best boxer in MMA.

BJ got fat a few years back. He was a tubby 190 lbs (or thereabouts). He's a guy with a 155 lbs frame; in fact (if he were so inclined) he could probably fight at 145 lbs in MMA. When he was fat he fought, the then heavyweight, Loyto Machida and lost a close decision.

During his fat phrase I saw an interview where he was talking about the kind of shape he was in. Without any sense of irony, BJ admitted that he used to be in better shape. You see, in his current state when he wanted to put his legs behind his head he had to use his hands. When he was lighter he could do it without using his hands.

Anyway, former five-time World Strongest Man, Mariusz Pudzianowski made his MMA debut earlier this month against a boxer named Marcin Najman, who took part in the Polish version of Big Brother.

    Pudzianowski was victorious.

    Najman's boxing record...

Pudzianowski's Wikipedia entry for those unfamiliar with him…

The fight complete with entrances etc...

Mariusz Pudzianowski Vs Marcin Najman (December 11, 2009) (KSW 12 - Najman vs. Pudzianowski) (Torwar, Warsaw, Poland)

The fight was a success. According to Dave Meltzer writing in the December 21, 2009 of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter...

Anyway, there's a guy over at the Eastside Boxing Forum who's translating Polish articles relating to Pudzianowski's MMA career. I thought they were pretty interesting.

For those who don't know who Adamek is a link to his boxing record is below.

I have no idea how is MMA career is going to pan out. I suspect that if he gets any near a true top guy he'll get taken a part. It's probably going to be interesting and fun though.

It's a pity Pride is gone. I would've loved to have seen him fighting pro-wrestlers and, also, Zulu.

Anyone reckon Butterbean, Ken Shamrock or Tank Abbott are up for a trip to Poland?
