Some people spend their money on children, trips to Disney, and new cars every other year. My wife and I made the decision going in we'd rather have a home on an island.
My truck is 12 years old, I buy used books, and I eat store brand chips, but I do have a nice view.

Saltwater or fresh, I've never been a fan of topwater. I can't explain it, but it's just not my thing. I throw Gotcha plugs and spoons like crazy when the trout and Spanish are biting.

Wouldn’t trade my kids for anything in this life. But that’s a damn nice view. Perhaps I could lease the older one.

A little indentured servitude never hurt anybody.

I just watched "The Choice." (Yeah, I know, turn in my man card). That looks a lot like Wrightsville.

Maybe fan wasn't the correct word. I don't know if it's my brain, muscle memory, or twitchiness, but I'm just not successful with it.
In saltwater where I fish, red drum are bottom feeders, and flounder literally lay on the bottom.
In freshwater, the only thing I've ever successfully done with a treble hook is stay hung up all day.

Kayak's a fishing machine! I landed the big flounder the other day and quickly realized I needed a net. It came in handy with the drum today

This guy is missing the point of surf fishing. He's got 8 rods, that big ass cart with more stuff in it than the Bass Pro in Memphis, a cast net, a contraption for scooping sand fleas, a bucket, and a folding table.

I go out with one rod and a 5 gallon bucket that holds what gear I need, and I can sit on it while enjoying the sunrise and surf.

He hauls all that stuff about as easily as you do yours. He can catch live bait on the spot, no need to bring it unless he's using live shrimp. He'll probably fish three of those rods at one time, the others have lures tied on for sight casting or working a topwater or something. He can throw a chunk of cut bait or half a crab out deep and see what hits it while working the drop off behind the sand bar and maybe a deep pocket in close to the beach. It's a more active style, sure, but to each his own.

I see the pros and cons of the beach buggy style of surf fishing. Of course, I’m a fly fisherman and just take an 8-weight and shrimp and crab imitation flies. But those guys with the buggies catch a lot more fish than I do.
