Of course, if Eli goes to the Chargers maybe he's in the Super Bowl last year with Tomlinson and that defense. And you could also flip it around and say the Chargers for drafting Eli anyway and then trading him for several starters.
And while we're on the Chargers, I'd add another "good" move they once made -- trading the No. 1 pick in the 2001 draft for Atlanta's first and second rounder. The Chargers gave up the shot at Mike Vick. They got Tomlinson and Drew Brees.

And on football, some other moves that were both good AND bad...
    • The Cowboys trading Herschel Walker to the Vikings
    • Tom Brady, the 201st pick in the 2000 NFL draft (and thus passed over 200 times by other teams)
    • Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf, followed by Ryan Leaf taken at No. 2

Dee Wallace Stone insisting on top billing. Never heard from again.

Mars (M&M's) turning down product placement. Upstart Reese's Pieces--"We'll do it!"

How about McLean Stevenson leaving MASH?

Then again, maybe "Hello, Larry" and "Condo" were TV classics in a parallel universe.

Bad: The Eagles trading up to pick Mike Mamula in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft. The two picks they gave up resulted in Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks.

Pretty bad: "My name is Yoko. And you said your name was John...."

Very bad: Anything done by the Bush Administration.

Very, very bad: Valentine's night 1996. Talk about having the bases loaded with no one out and the heart of the order coming up and still not bringing in the run to clinch it all.

Good: Actually failing my senior year in high school. It opened the door for my writing career.

Not sure, but it worked out pretty well for Courtney Love.
