Am I reading too fast or did AP goof?

    Unless they've changed in the last six weeks or so, AP will use the race name in photo cutlines.

    I don't get too worked up about the corporate names. If they sound OK, then one mention won't kill anyone. Example: The Allstate 400 at the Brickyard sounds stupid as does The Rose Bowl presented by Whoever it was. The more upfront the names are, such as the PopSecret 500, the better they sound. When the names are long and wordy, they are less appealing. Everytime our motors writer mentions Champ Car, he will put in the entire four sponsor name which I can't recall after chopping it every week.

    If you took out all corporate names, you could never quote a NASCAR driver.

    And that's why it's a Terry Taylor question --- she's the AP's sports editor.

    Nah, you'd just have trouble with Michael Waltrip and Boris Said. They try to get every sponsor in every sentence fragment.
