I'd rather the QB call his plays, if he can handle it. Peyton Manning can call his own game. Officer Tom Brady could call his own game. Probably a few others, too. Too much micro management in the game.

The has become NFL is a control-freak coaches league. It has become a bore because of micromanaging coaches.

I love football. I love the NFL. So no, I don't find it boring in the least. But I have to admit, this year, I have enjoyed some of the Thursday, Friday and Saturday games I have watched more than the Sunday and Monday games.

Do you know what I really enjoy?

    Saturday - college
    Sunday - pro

    Married?

On that note, the league has spent far too much time singing its own praises. Too many hucksters, former players for the most part, talking about the "brilliance of Parcells" or whoever the hell else's banbdwagon they're on that week. If the product were any more self-important or overanalyzed you'd think these guys had just cured cancer as opposed to successfully converting 3rd-and-12.

Baseball managers scratch themselves. Basketball coaches are babysitters. NFL coaches, for one reason or another, are supposed to be a cross between Stephen Hawking, Galileo and Tony Robbins.

It's smart to let the statement stand on its own.
