AMC's The Killing

Great point Central, although the only problem I had with it is the timing with just two episodes left. Clearly, this gave Linden a taste of what the Larsen's went through and it was a clever parallel between her scene at the dead body and the one in the opening episode with Stan.

So here's my question. I had read somewhere earlier that the actors don't even know what's in store for them before shooting, and with the final episode being billed as a season finale, indicating this show is definitely coming back, is it possible that Rosie's murder case remains unsolved and carries over into next season? Or will next season simply be a new case?

All of the character development in that one episode could have been rolled out throughout the series. I don't have a problem with such episodes in longer seasons, but this is not something you do with two episodes left.

I didn't much like the episode the first time, but loved it after watching the rerun last night. Caught several things I didn't notice the first time through.

The scene in the diner was pretty good, as was the scene where Linden thought the murdered boy might have been her son.

There aren't just two episodes left ... there are two episodes left in this season. I'm pretty sure I read on AMC.com that there's going to be a second season.

    Good point by Sepinwall:

I liked the episode as well, on its own. But I agree that it could have/should have come much earlier in the season.

The murder investigation didn't go anywhere this week, and that's inexcusable this close to the end.

    I agree.
also, in response to the other point raised in several posts, maybe I'm wrong but I thought I read that each season would be a different case, and that they would wrap up Rosie this season. I really don't think you can keep it going for two seasons. No metro PD spends that much fulltime work on an unsolved murder.

I do agree that they'll wrap up Rosie this season.

I do not, however, agree with the above statement. Given its ties to the mayoral campaign, the Rosie murder would become what is known as a "red ball" case, and the PD would devote all possible resources to it.

OK, I can see that. But it raises the question of why right now only these two are assigned to it, there has been absolutely no work done by anybody else, even in this latest episode, when they both drop everything to try to find the detective's kid.
Pretty good KSK parody of the series this week, even though I am a fan.

Some critics have cogently argued that the threads between the case and the campaign are pretty superficial, and over the course of many hours, not well established beyond the location of the discovery of her body. They spent half a season trying to tie her and Ahmed and Richmond together only to reveal it was a red herring.

I'd hope that they solve that Larsen case, but it somehow ends in a cliffhanger involving a new case.

I thought the new case they started a few weeks ago would take away from the Larsen case, but they haven't touched on that one very much since.

Really? No bump after last night's episode?
SPOILERS for those who didn't see it....

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I don't think Richmond did it. I think that the final twist is that it's the campaign guy, the one who can't handle his booze. I don't know if they ever said how Richmond's wife died, but I bet it's by drowning. I bet that guy is trying to cover Richmond's tracks.

    Thoughts?

Good possibility. I thought for a while last night that things pointed toward the Mark Cuban-esque sports owner, as well.
