How about the other guy (don't know his name) beating the crap out of the rock?

    That was just strange.

Yeah, very strange. That dude's got some serious issues. So, can we assume Ahmed is dead or just beaten into a coma?

Yeah, the lieutenant character sucks. In the first couple of episodes, he was all about shaming Linden into staying to solve this all-important case because the new guy couldn't be trusted with it. Now he acts like he wishes it would all go away.

But I am encouraged by last night's episode as well. This show could still afford to trim a lot of fat, but it definitely took a step forward this week.

I keep thinking there's something up with Stan's employee. Don't know why.

Last night's episode was the best of the series, sans the premiere. I'm really looking forward to the last episodes.

Except I've been feeling this way for weeks. Not sure why ... he just seems hinky.

I liked it better when we learned more about Rosie. The past 4 or so episodes have been insanely light on piecing together what she did, who she was with or why she was in a certain place.

Very good point, but I think they're going to have to go back to that, now that the teacher didn't do it.

The employee is suspicious because he's a bit crazy. Maybe he wants to be Stan. His interaction with the children is also suspect.

Mitch's sister has something going on there (returning school books, break down at funeral). The show has yet to shed any significant light on her situation though.

The candidate has a mean streak and is hiding something.

As for Rosie...I still have a hunch she was an escort or something of the sort.

Agree completely. And for the first time, the direction of the latest episode really caught my eye. Some great decisions on how Agnieszka Holland shot the episode (e.g. Framing Richmond from behind at the bar to end a scene; not showing the white board with 'KILLER' on it until later in that scene; cutting away from the made basketball shot, etc.). When you have a show as quiet and character-driven as this, you need a director who can use framing and pace to help tell the story -- and I think Holland did that with this episode.
