AMC's The Walking Dead

So what did you all think about the episode?

The scenes with Andrea over Amy's body were intense. I was waiting for Amy to jump up and bite Andrea, who seemed so calm as she grieved. I got especially anxious when she put the necklace on her. A few times I yelled "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" at my TV. Then the zombiefication happened. That was cool to see.

I think the actor who played Jim did a fine job. That eery calmness about the character was sort of unnerving, especially as he grew increasingly ill and the fever took hold. I have a feeling we'll see Zombie Jim again. Probably in a moment that will require one of our survivors to put a bullet in his brain before he devours another survivor.

I've read a few "LOST" comparisons in this episode. Namely, how we met the CDC guy and Desmond in season 2.

 

They are doing a great job making this series their own and so far off the path that the comic made. I read the piece in EW that said Robert Kirkman (the comic creator) is having a lot of fun re-writing the series and doing what he maybe was thinking of doing, but went another way.
To have him on board with the project really makes the show.

 

I think we'll see Jim again next week. The CDC guy was upset because all the "fresh" samples were destroyed. Someone will say "We know where some fresh samples are."

 

By then he'll have to be zombiefied. Which makes it that much more interesting.

Much ado about nothing...

Darabont and the EP ended up doing most of the heavy lifting on the 6 scripts that were filmed anyway. This move is simply a cost-cutting one that allows the show to get leaner in production for the 13 epis of Season 2 by dumping the guaranteed salaries and replacing them with as-produced ones instead. Smart business move (although as a Hollywood script writer myself, I do cringe at the idea of the writers getting shit-canned. But the industry must evolve to survive).
