T-Dogg said the same thing last night on Talking Dead. Said there's always a "final dinner" after a cast member's last filming.

Dude, it's not like Rick started plunging Carl's head in a toilet. His immediate reaction was utter horror at realizing his son was motherless and how it must have gone down. Rick was overwhelmed.

He will continue to be a good father. He will comfort Carl. Don't worry.

IronE Singleton was on a local talk show here on my way into work.

He also talked about getting the call from "The Grim Reaper" Mazzara.

Then why not GO TO HIS SON at that moment? Break down, fine. But do it holding your son. Don't leave him alone. Not then. My guess is the way it went down causes Carl to hate his dad and question his leadership, at least until Rick saves him from some character who's not been introduced yet during the Series 3 finale.

Oh for GODSAKES. It was a moment. Rick was out of his mind. It was symbolic. Carl is alone. It was powerful. Even Rick can't fix this.

Rick and Carl will be fine.

I'm not going to comment on the rest of what you wrote because you have many, many talents, but they do not include basic understanding of dramatic television plot development.

Ya, I know my scenario would have been boring television. Still bugs me, though.

Is it too much to ask for a little realism with my zombie apocalypse?

Oh, so you were also offended at freshly mown grass and Hershel's never-ending headshot, shotgun ammo spree?

    Very much so.

See, I think Rick's reaction was completely realistic. He lost his shit in the face of his worst fear coming to pass. He couldn't protect his son. That's what it really all boils down to.
