I get the feeling that Carl will cause Rick's death. With all the characters now fan favorites Daryl, Glen, Maggie -- Rick will become expendable.

That fight scene was awesome, and what a cliffhanger. One of the top two episodes so far.

I was disappointed by this episode. It moved too quickly in some parts, and I don't think everything was earned. Michonne killing Penny was written to be some big, important scene, but we know so little about her that her death did nothing for me. (We also don't know much about Michonne yet, which doesn't help.)

The ending played out like a trap. The Governor had no reason to think Merle was behind this, and it all felt like the type of thing you do to sucker Daryl into handing Merle the group on a silver platter. It's been a very strong season, but that cliffhanger seemed forced.

The fight scene would have played better had someone other than expendable-as-hell Oscar been at least hit. I know part of it was Rick's group is better at combat than the Governor's soft-bellied luxury-housing folks. But they had a 5-to-1 advantage and took out one guy.

I guess my biggest problem is that the entire episode played out like a stereotypical midseason finale. They opened new cans of worms, baiting us to keep watching. We'll keep watching because the show is good, though. The show has become really good.

    Good point.

The whole scene with Michonne and the Governor was beautiful.

Edit: Stop posting before me, YGBFAM

Merle told the Governor he killed Michonne, Verse.

Once he saw Michonne, the Governor knew Merle lied. Doesn't really matter what he concocted in his mind about Merle being some sort of mastermind, that kind of betrayal wasn't going to fly with a control freak. Especially one who just got his ass kicked and watched his daughter be killed. Him freaking out and blaming Merle seems perfectly reasonable, as it were. Now capturing Daryl was a bit forced, but you copy editors are so fucking literal. Enjoy the madness!

That's a very good point, YGBear. I forgot about the lie. I wish they had shown Daryl going after Merle and breaking from the group, to better explain why the best fighter in the group (other than Rick, maybe) was the one who got caught.

The one thing that bothered me about the ending is that it kind of destroyed what I assumed would be a defining moment between Merle and Daryl. Making them both sympathetic teammates kinda blows. Maybe their relationship will come to a head down the road, but Battling Redneck Brothers isn't what I want to see out of those two. I want to see them work out their issues -- violently.

Just watched it. First, the first scene between Michonne and the Governor is one of the best I've seen in TV or a movie. So unique with the zombie heads, etc. Fantastic stuff and I don't normally get fired up about fight scenes.

I will say that the only thing that would have made it more powerful is if the show did a better job at explaining just why Michonne was so damn determined to kill the Governor in the first place, other than some spidey sense that he was a loon.

As for Merle, YGBFKM made the point about Merle lying, but I've always thought Woodbury was a metaphor for fascism and the Governor is a metaphor for a fascist leader hellbent on maintaining power.

Even if Merle hadn't lied about Michonne, the Governor would have found a scapegoat to blame the town invasion on. His hold on power depends on it. Merle obviously works because he's in charge of security, etc.

The Darryl part? I agree that it comes off as forced.

I wonder what the deal (if there's a deal) with Rick and the guy he shot inside Woodbury?

I can live with some of the plot shortcomings. The show isn't all-time great, but its compelling and good popcorn fare, and that's all I ask.

I can't wait to show my 10-year-old and 9-year-old that zombie girl-swording, zombie-head chomping, glass-in-the-eye battle royale tomorrow! (I'm kidding)

They killed more than 1 guy...they took out the guards on the bus as well.

You didn't notice how the guy came out of the dark looking like Shane? I thought that was obvious. Rick was seeing things, then realized it wasn't Shane. Just his mind playing tricks.

Bubbler - Merle came after Michonne to kill her. Merle is (was) the Governor's lieutenant. Thus, Michonne knew the Governor sent Merle to kill her. (That's how is was explained on the Talking Dead. Plus, she gets to say (Nelson Muntz voice) ha-ha to Andrea).
