Which begs the question...why haven't they colorized it yet? LOL

I used to wonder how it would be to take a movie I liked and dial the color out via whatever controls my current TV has. Watch "The Usual Suspects" or something noir-ish in B&W, to see if that enhances the effect. Or heck, even watch the later seasons of Andy Griffith show that way to see if they feel more like the "original" Mayberry.

But then I read somewhere that the grayscale you would get from the absence of color wouldn't be the same -- less contrast, muddier -- as something intentionally shot in classic B&W. So never have gotten around to experimenting.

    Anyone ever actually try this?

    This does not sound good:

AMC renews Walking Dead for season 4 but exec producer Glen Mazzara leaving over creative issues

Slightly more on the split: http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-walking-dead-will-be-back-for-a-fourth-season,90188/

The show does so well for AMC. I can't imagine this is a money issue.

There have been several re-releases that did just that. Hell, you could do it if you had the know-how and release it yourself because the movie is in the public domain.
Apparently, back in 1968, they changed the title of the movie between filming and release. When they put the new opening titles on, there was no copyright notice on the prints. Hence, you can do whatever the hell you want to the movie -- re-release it, colorize it, show it, insert footage of yourself fighting zombies, use it as background noise in another film -- and you don't owe George Romero a dime.
Definitely one of the bigger cinematic fuck-ups of all time.

That must be why Romero keeps making the same movie over and over again, to cash in on what he missed from the first one.

I've said it once and I'll say it again ... no network stumbles into shows it doesn't deserve quite like AMC. They're a bunch of dicks.

You should shoot it BW and color.
When you release the DVDs, the nerd/collector community will by both.
Minimal increase to overhead, nice increase in sales.

Franchise has been overdue for a reboot, anyway.
