As we saw with Tyreese's group and the prisoners and most of the Woodbury people, some people have survived without being particularly strong. The Governor, Martinez and Shupert (I had to look it up) are some very strong motherfuckers.

They call that third member of what's left of the Gov's group by a nickname. I can't recall what it is.

His name is Shupert, according to Wikipedia.

Just looked it up, Bowman is another name for him. That's the one I was referring to. For some reason I thought they put a "The" in front of it while they were doing a behind the scenes bit during Talking Dead. I was more than likely mistaken.

I thought I saw that too. Maybe he uses a bow? He is the one Darryl snatched his cross bow from when he was escaping Woodberry with Merle.

One thing I thought of this morning...Remember when Tyreese told Sasha were trying to figure out what was going on, guarding all the kids and elderly, he said something like "I'll be right back." We thought he's going to go find Andrea and save her before Milton bites her. Then the next time we see Tyreese, he's shooting at Rick coming into the prison. So what? Did he just go take leak? Bad editing. I wonder if some scene where he discovered something ab out the governor was cut out.

Agree that Carl was right to shoot the kid. The look in that kid's eyes seemed to say, "I'm faced with an old one-legged man and a li'l punk playing dress-up." He didn't fear them at all and would have been dangerous to them, thinking he could still make it back to Woodbury.

Really disliked Rick's crew not taking out anyone from the Governor's marauders. All those shots and they hit no one, yet they whoop it up afterward like they did something with lasting impact. I guess the show needed to keep the Gov's people alive so he could mow them down soon thereafter, and make the contrast between Rick's group and the Gov's as stark as possible.

Oh, and how did Andrea ultimately put down Milton? Saw that chain hanging on the pillar next to the barber chair and thought that at least might be a way to clothesline his biting head away from his ambulatory body.

Also thought, when the dark-haired gal among the Woodbury massacred survived -- Karen? -- that Carol would have some new romantic competition for Darryl next season. Or does Rick get dibs?

Agree on that red herring "I'll be right back" thing with Tyreese. 'Sup with that?

Good call. That was bothering me, too, when I watched a bit of the replay last night.

I'm curious what percentage of The Walking Dead viewers would consider it their favorite show on TV. It seems like the loyalty is very, very high.

I was going to go into a long-winded counter-point of Vers's points about last night's episode, but Sepinwall hit nearly all of them for me.

And I'll agree wholeheartedly with the bad editing. Nearly every show since the series has resumed has been disjointed that way.

Character development? Some characters have turned in a dime without explanation. Some situations -- including a few in last night's episode -- went completely unexplained. Were Glen and Maggie the only one's in the prison during the raid? Why were Hershel and Carl outside the prison to begin with? Where the hell was everyone else?

On another note, I had the TV on in the background long enough for Talking Dead to be on. In it, Andrew Lincoln said the reason to take in Woodbury's refugees was to bring civilization to an increasingly dark Carl.

OK. That makes the decision to go to the prison make even less sense. Civilization, or a form of it, existed in Woodbury. About the only reason I can think of to return to the prison is the thought that the governor would return to Woodbury and burn the fucker down, but he could just as easily do the same at the compromised prison. Stupid, but maybe that stupidity will be addressed in the next season.

And why would these refugees just up and leave for Rick anyway? Yes, a survivor could tell them the Governor went batshit, but that doesn't mean they're going to just throw their lot in with suddenly heroic Rick and Tyreese, who has barely been in Woodbury. Too easy, too lazy for the writers.

Andrea's idiotic shit and often selfish behavior from beginning to end of Season 3 being redeemed? The peace treaty at the gate? So much stupidity.

This show needs to become more about the walkers again and get more of a singular focus.

In Season 2, it meandered, but at least it was about the group and nothing but the group. With Woodbury, the prison, Tyreese, etc., it spread itself too thin after a very promising beginning.

I stand by my original assessment that it "suuuuuccccccked".

Yeah, the prison attack scene really had a lot of missing pieces. Some parts looked like they'd been carefully planned out, for instance finding and using the riot gear and putting armor plating on that walkway to allow Glenn to shoot from there, and scaring the group out of the basement and into a trap in the courtyard. But the trap was horribly executed and no one seemed disappointed about that. And the rest showed no planning whatsoever. I didn't even notice anyone but Glenn doing the shooting. Afterward they showed Maggie had as well, but I didn't notice her before. Strange editing. (or maybe I just missed it.)

I assume Carl was sent from the prison to ensure he survived, which is why he was so upset when he was packing his stuff.

Nevertheless, how can you not tell us what the three main fighters are doing during the biggest single scene of the season? Rick, Daryl and Machonne were hiding under the beds for all we know. The whole thing felt unfinished.

What it tells me is that they had a writing issue possibly due to Mazzara's firing, etc.

AMC fucks up a good thing. Color me shocked.
