I don't mind them becoming nonchalant about the walkers. It's been, what, at least a year or two now since the zombie outbreak? It's a different world, and they've acclimated to it. They know how to deal with walkers. Just like a dangerous animal, you respect what it can do but if you know how to handle it there's no reason to fear it.

I think the point the show is making is that they're nonchalant and they're about to get a big-ass wake-up call.

Rick blithely wearing headphones while walkers pushed on the outer fence was a not-so-subtle set-up for that.

It took a few seasons, but the show is finally - or will finally - address how the group responds to natural death. Sure, the group has lost people, but I think this is the first time that somebody has just gotten sick and died during the middle of the night. I always thought that Herschel would be the one to die of a heart attack or pass in the middle of the night, but I am interested to see how the group responds to the loss of the kid with glasses and whoever he takes out.

So how did the zombies wind up on the roof of the store?

Looked like the helicopter crash-landed, or just landed normally, and the survivors got stuck up there.

So my wife has decided to watch the show. She started last night, season one, episode one. There were a few things I noticed that struck me as odd, and most likely they're due to the inconsistency in showrunners and keeping up with things. I don't know if they're minor gripes or more substantial, so I thought I'd through it to the class:

    1. Walkers are somewhat intelligent: some can scale fences, some can climb fire escape ladders, some can use rocks as tools to break glass doors.
    2. What happened to Andrea's accent?

Okay, the last one was tounge-in-cheek. But I can't recall walkers in latter seasons showing such intelligence.

That's because they're deteriorating. If you notice, older walkers look more gray than a fresh walker. And the only time I can remember a walker doing any of those things you mentioned was in season 1. You don't see that anymore.

The chopper looked like it had crashed on top of the store. Guessing there weren't any survivors.

Guess I haven't noticed any freshly turned do that since the first few episodes either. I'll keep my eyes open as I re-watch it with the wife.

Morgan's wife tried the door knob a few times after she turned...but then stopped. It's like the human side is still there at the beginning of the end, but now...unless they just died, the dead are just "walking dead"

Nonetheless, it strikes me as odd that they would have what appeared to be hundred of walkers out at the fence and that wouldn't be a big priority. It's like they're not going to "waste their time" killing walkers unless they absolutely have to and that strikes me as odd at best since they're one and only priority should be staying safe and having even one walker out there is an invitation to danger.

Well, they did show people killing them...and well, ya gotta eat also, so it's not like they are going to go "all hands on deck" every time a patch of zombies wanders in.
