I just finished watching tonight's episodes after somehow avoiding spoilers but seeing some "hints" that something big was going to happen in this episode.
    Meh.
We all know Carol's not gone for good--hell, they brought freaking Morgan back--so this just felt flat to me.
I did love that she threw Shane in Rick's face though. It was a nice call-back and something I thought was very realistic in how I would expect characters in that situation to react.
But I can't imagine she's not back before this season is done. Like others have said, there are only a few characters still around from the start so you can't expect they'll keep her away long. My money is she finds the Governor and he uses her to get back to the prison. Guess we'll see.

I'm betting she ends up in the Governor's hands, too. On the Source Material That Must Not Be Named thread, I have a theory on just how that may play out for those who are interested. Or at least one cool way for it to play out.

I think I have an idea as well and how it might all end up. Then again, they are so far from the comics now, it's a good thing.

I agree. It's nice seeing little moments from the comics pop up now and then, but the overall story is so different now that you have no idea where they're going to take things.

I will miss a solid hour of people coughing up blood. Said no one ever.

Not sure why I keep watching. It's not terrible, but it isn't great by any stretch. I guess since I've put the time in ...

Every good book has its chapters that only set up what's to come.

The Walking Dead is very different from a lot of TV series in how it develops much like a comic would. Not every episode is set up to deliver a huge punch. Some are, as spikechiquet said, chapters that set things up. Heck, even Breaking Bad had those, though I think The Walking Dead is different in that they like the slow build to a big payoff much more. Take Season 2. The first half everyone was bitching about how slow it was and how it wasn't living up to Season 1. Then it hit the midseason finale and everyone backpedaled and saw what the build was taking us to.

I liked this episode because (1) it was a good episode that was a hell of a lot more than people coughing and I really don't see how you could come to that view unless you had your nose in an iPad or on your phone while you were watching, and (2) there was a fair amount of character development in the episode. It was a decent way to bring a bit of a wrap-up to the first threat -- the sickness -- and segue into the next threat -- the Governor.

That was one of the best episodes in the entire series run. Solid from start to finish.

It ranks behind "Clear" on my list.
