Silly The Walking Dead, stop trying so hard to be like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. That was a fine episode after they were done with the hackneyed attempts at being artsy.

I don't even get that. The episode was great, and nothing seemed hackneyed or forced about it. Plus, "The Walking Dead" has had plenty of "artsy" moments over the year that they've done damn well. I dig those other shows, but TWD has been like that since Season 1, Episode 1.

I liked it too. I'm sure when he was just a married, suburban schmo guy with his wife and daughter, he was good for a barbecue and a beer with his neighbors. You'd probably lend him some sugar when his family ran out.

Put him into an apocalyptic survival situation and moral boundaries fray. I'm glad they're presenting him with a Jungian duality, not just some one-sided villain with cloudy motivations. Also, I think he's got a chance at redemption here. My feeling is he won't take it and will go back to his darker impulses, like his "TV" wall of dismembered zombie heads and murderous thievery.

    Please stop the musical segments.

Agreed. Pretty pointless if you ask me.

Those Walking Dead soundtracks don't sell themselves!

I think hackneyed is about right. Whenever the Walking Dead tries what it did with the opening segment, it comes off as forced, and it doesn't fit with the general feel of the show.

When you're supposed to have a general sense of dread, it generally doesn't come with country music video accompaniment.

I do think Walking Dead is making an unconscious effort with some of its quiet episodes to become No Country For Old Walkers, but at least the minimalist dialogue, etc., fits in with the world they live in.

I wonder how many people will get that reference.

You and I don't make jokes so other people will get them.
We make jokes because we find them funny.

I feel bad for people who watch an episode like Sunday's and deem it bad just because it wasn't 42 minutes of non-stop zombie gore-porn.
