I think it's funny how people expect guns and people wielding them to follow the rules of the real world in this show when in 99 percent of all TV shows and action movies, the same kind of stuff happens. Do you watch "Die Hard" and think, "man, this movie would be so much better if they'd have the terrorists actually able to shoot like they would in the real world"?

Also, I would argue the Governor went for Hershel instead of Michonne because he figured the prison folks would have more of an emotional bond. I think up to a point, he was trying to be a better man, which is why he didn't just gut Michonne to begin with. That and he knew killing her and then taking Hershel to the prison would just mean Hershel screaming, "Don't trust him! He killed Michonne!" Instead, he keeps them both alive and then uses the one who Rick had been around more and who everyone loved as the threat to get into the prison. Makes a lot more sense than Michonne, really.

As for people not questioning their leaders disappearing, this is a world where people go out and don't come back all the time. Not so unbelievable, really, to think people would accept a couple more dying, esp. when someone who had been in the camp a while backed his story.

It is a show based on a comic book, ergo a comic book show, so I don't complain too much over the action sequences. I take it for what it's worth. It gets me more in this show because it is trying to be real 75% of the time but dips into being comic booky 25% of the time. Make up your mind, show!

I think anytime a new show runner takes over, it takes a few episodes to get things moving. I've been pretty critical of the season, wanting it to be more than just zombie-deadpool, but in hindsight it makes sense. You need to get Team Rick out of the prison, you need to stir things up, reintroduce the Governor and then close him out, give Herschel a proper sendoff…there is other stuff (Carol, the mole, drunk Bob) that maybe still has more to add. I'd like to think the Governor's arc will add something forward with a member of his posse or two still part of the story.

I do like some of the graphic novelish scenes in the show.

I have not read the graphic novel, but I can imagine some scenes seemingly drawn in that format and reproduced for TV (such as the guy chained in the pond last night and the girl playing in the mud with the sign).

I liked the episode - and Lord know I've been critical of this show previously -- but it accomplished some important things to keep me watching. 1. It ended the Governor's story arc; I'd tired of that; should have ended last season; and 2. They're out of that damn prison. The show moves much better when they're out on the road.

I'm also in the corner that Judith is still somewhere; that either Beth (who left the bus to find her), or one of the Children of the Corn took her.

And Carol is out there somewhere and will show up to save one of them, probably Rick and Carl.

I think I saw her among the zombies that were drawn by the sound of the fighting.

Anyway, I'm surprised they closed the Gov. out. I figured they would leave him out there for another return.
But I'm glad. I was a little tired of that story.

Also, I think it's interesting that they have a potential psychopath among them. I'm guessing the obvious - it's the little girl and they're going to turn her back over to Carol - but we'll see.

When Glen and Maggie parted ways on the bus, I kept waiting for the tank driver to put a round through the thing. Thought for sure Glen was a goner at that point. Looks like one major group death at a time is all we get.

Enjoyed the action sequence, but there were a lot of plot holes in it. I get that the tank gunner is probably not the best shot in the world, which is why he was aiming at the broad side of the prison. But why would he blow holes in it when their whole point of being there was to take it over? Same with running over the fences?
You can write some of that off with survival instinct/mob mentality, but it's still silly.
Michonne not finishing off the Governor, everyone shooting like blind Stormtroopers, and every barrier being made of reinforced bulletproof steel also stretched the bounds of credibility.

I can see why Michonne didn't finish the Governor off. She wanted him to suffer for everything he had done.

Yup, she wanted him to be zombie food.

I don't think that was the reason. Wasn't there some discussion she had with Darryl about putting the need to kill the Governor behind her?

    Right.

But didn't she also say something along of the lines of if she had the chance, she'd still kill him?

I think that is why her decision not to finish him off is significant. At that point, maybe she would have, but when the moment came, she walked away.

Kind of like Herschel smiling at Rick's speech, not just out of a misguided belief that it would work, but also because he believed Rick meant it and he liked seeing his friend advocate that point of view.

But really, the characters never develop at all on the show, so I must be nuts.
