I only saw the first two episodes each of Breaking Bad and Mad Men ... Neither one grabbed me. The Walking Dead got me from the first episode. Love that show.

Anyway, Sunday was a little slow, with not a lot happening but there were good performances all around and I have to wonder if we're going to start seeing Lori and Rick drifting apart. He's always trying to take care of everyone except his own family and I think we started to see something of a rift developing on that front in this episode. It could be part of why they were having trouble before Rick got shot. I'm wondering if the kid is going to die and really drive a wedge between the two, opening the door for the love triangle to blow up. Normally, I'd say filmmakers or writers never kill the kid, but well, there was the opening scene of the series, so ....

I particularly liked the doctor's line when asked if he was in over his head.

The infection in T-Dog's arm seems to be moving a little quicker than one would expect. Most people won't become paranoid and delusional a day after cutting their arm, I wouldn't think. Curious where that's going.

Loved the reference to blue meth late in the show. I bet Heisenberg would kick some zombie ass.

I got tickled with the little bits right before commercials on how to kill zombies. That was funny.

I really enjoyed the show last night on the History Channel. Despite my nerd-dom, I still learned a lot of new stuff.

Max Brooks, one of the contributors last night, authored "World War Z." I suggest you read it. Especially before the Brad Pitt flick comes out in 12/12.

Disturbing - Watching Carl flop around on the bed. I loved the way it was shot from above and you see this seizing child, nearly as pale as the sheet, on a bed in some desolate-looking room. Lincoln and Callies really sold that, too, as horrified and hopeless parents.

Intriguing - Hanging Zombie discovered by Daryl and Andrea.

Morbid - Shane shooting Otis to save his own ass. That was dark. Very dark. I've read a few reasons why he chose to kneecap him rather than put one between his eyes. 1) Live, squirming flesh is much more appealing to the walkers than a dead body; 2) Something deep inside Shane made him want revenge for the man who shot Carl and thus put them in their current situation.

  7. When they showed Shane in the opening - I knew that's what happened.
    Good episode.
But I wish they move on with the lost little girl plot.
And I think Glen is gonna get to plow some fertile Georgia soil.

I was a little surprised at Shane capping Otis. Shane's had his faults (the drunken groping, for one), but I always thought they did a good job of just making him seem a little lonely and still fairly likable.

Capping Otis certainly fits in with his character (he left his best friend behind to start the series), but that was a lot colder than I thought he really was. A good turn in his character, though.

I agree, Orville, it's time to move on with the missing little girl. I was hoping they were going to find her in the woods to wrap that part of the plot up.

According to the preview, it looks like Daryl stumbles upon a building in the next episode. Maybe he'll find her. I'm ready to figure that one out, too.

This scene was great. Really solid acting all around.

The note he left behind was hilarious.

Good God almighty, this scene really got me. They were almost to the road and then, bam! Shane busts a cap in the dude's knee. I like this turn in his character, and it's something I definitely didn't see coming.

I didn't see it coming either, but I liked that it still fit in with what we know of his character. Those of us who didn't see it coming certainly COULD have seen it coming. It wasn't something out of left field, but it wasn't entirely something we thought he would do, either. Good piece of writing and it should make Shane's story arc much more interesting to follow.

Daryl might be the coolest character on the show, BTW.

The ending last night was unexpected to me and very good twist in the show.

What I'd like to see now is to zoom forward 3-4 weeks -- you know at the bottom of the screen "4 weeks later" -- the little girl is back and Carl is healed enough to travel (TV healings are so much faster, ya know?) so we can get back to evading and brain-blasting zombies and away from all this soap opera drama with the kiddos.
