I'm in the camp of I'm not interested in how the outbreak started and I don't want a "quest for a cure" story line. I already saw that in "World War Z" and didn't care for it. "Zombieland" wasn't a quest for a cure either, and it worked just fine. I don't recall if they explained the outbreak other than a joke about mad cow disease and hamburgers. I think. I'd have to watch it again.

That's all I remember them saying.

The show recovered a bit at the end. The third-to-last episode was grim. The finale was fine. I didn't care for the Maggie-Glen episode, but it certainly wasn't the worst of the season by any stretch.

Still, it has a ways to go to catch its peak level. Not sure I'm down for more.

Who would have thought the major character death people are talking about right now is on a sitcom and not The Walking Dead.

Speaking of character deaths, I feel like a few of the characters are untouchable. Now, I haven't read the comic or the comic thread and I don't plan to. So here are my thoughts

Rick - leader, the reason for the show. He can't die unless they switch focus and make the show about someone else.

Carl - Rick's purpose for living.

Darryl - Resident bad ass. The next most capable person to lead the group because of his survival instincts, strength, bow and arrow. He, like Carl is weary of others and protects the group.

Glenn and Maggie - To a lesser extent these two are also able to help the group in more ways than most other characters. While I think one or both could be killed off, they would be less likely than everyone but Darryl, Carl and Rick.

Michionne - She has that sword which helps get out of a lot of danger. She's strong and smart and seems like that mother/friend figure for Carl. Not necessarily untouchable, but certainly and important part.

People who could prob die, IMO: Tyrese, Carol, Bob, Sasha, Beth the new folks from the road and the lesbian chick. Of course, I doubt they brought in Michael Cudlitz just for him to die. Early. I'm sure they kill off the lesbian girl or the hot one with the Army fatigues.

Additionally, I think one of the tougher characters to kill of was Herschel, but Dale wasn't either either. Still, they were only in it for a few seasons each. Carl/Rick/Daryl/Glenn have been in the beginning and I guess Carol too. After that, Maggie and Beth are next newest characters. Tyrese, Bob and Sasha are pretty new as well.

    What does everyone else think?

I don't think they'll kill Rick, Carl or Darrell.

Killing Glenn, Maggie or Michone would be a ballzy move. I'd lvoe to see it, even though I like those characters.

I love the Michone character, but it would be a great twist for her to rediscover her humanity only to lose her life in a way that questions whetehr humanity is a weakness.

Rick won't die until at least the series finale as he's the main character that the show is based around but, honestly, everyone else is fair game.
Darryl was willing to sacrifice him in this week's episode and it would have made total sense so, really, there's no reason why they won't kill him off eventually apart from fan hatred.
As far as Michonne, I'd argue the fact that she is such a strong female character makes her a high-value target if the show ever wants to introduce a real top-notch villain into the mix later down the line.
Maggie and Glenn, I fear, are both doomed as their relationship is so strong it would be a wealth of story development to see one have to live without the other for real. Plus, a scene with one looking at the other dead would be incredibly powerful.
Same thing for Carl. While I've long thought the most interesting aspect of this show is how Carl is growing up in this world, his death would rock Rick and fundamentally alter the entire series so I'd say it's always a possibility.

I could see Carl living through the show, with the finale being a grown Carl telling the story to ... uh, his kids, his group? I'm thinking of him being the Feral Child and Rick being Mad Max. It's a stretch, I know.

"And that, kids, is how I survived a zombie apocalypse. By the way, you guys are cool with me banging Beth right?"

Help me with a few questions from the finale:

The pocket watch, I get. It tips Rick that Glenn had been or is there. But the pancho? Who had Darryl's pancho? Beth?

Also, in the railcar, I didn't see the full-of-shit scientist that was traveling with the Maggie-Glenn group. Was he there? If not, where is that dipshit?
