We may have discussed this before, but I can't remember.

Anyone reading the novels written by Kirkland and Jay Bonansinga? It's set in the same world and centers around a lot of the same characters, but it's a bit different from the show and comic. Just picked up the final book, The Fall of the Governor: Part 2. Hope to start that after work tonight. I read Part 1 in about a week, then wasn't able to get Part 2 till now.

Yeah, the minute they set up the eight guys, with four nobodies to screen right and our gang of heroes screen left, it removed any doubt that one of the Grimes gang would get killed.

I briefly considered that Rick might allow Bob to get knifed in the eye. Had they placed him in spot No. 4, there might have been some drama that he'd take a bat to the head. But Glenn? Not a chance.

I haven't seen The Flash, and probably won't. My wife likes Gotham, but I doubt I'm going to get her into another superhero show. I also soured a bit on CW superhero shows as they dragged out Smallville.

I know how those choices go. I do think it started stronger than both Smallville and Arrow, for what it is worth.

Oh, and allow me to be the first to thank you for that link.

I just rewatched last night's episode and it's crazy how much you pick up on the rewatch and how interconnected everything is.
I initially didn't get the timing of the whole Carol/Tyrese + Terminus group situation but when you rewatch it, it's obvious Carol and Tyreese are on the way to Terminus in their first scene last night when Rick and his group are finishing the scene at the end of Season 4. The Rick and company fire fight that led to then getting in the train ALSO caused the herd to head to terminus. That firefight ALSO put Carol/Tyrese on alert to be wary of Terminus so they weren't around and came up on the outpost where that guy was.
So in the time it took Carol to get to Terminus, Tyrese and the guy in the cabin were talking and the gang were inside the train getting situated/going through unknown things. Carol gets to the Terminus fence at the start of last night's episode, and heads over to the fence after hearing the tear gas canister go off. She sees her guys being taken into the trough room and moves into a better position and without knowing it saves their lives.
Crazy how deep the writing there is.
I also liked a lot of the little touches tonight. Like the guy who missed rounds missing the herd that led to the firefight that freed Rick and company and got him killed. Or Rick wondering if the fire was still burning and Carol answering that it was because of what the kids taught her last year.
I'm convinced by the way that Tyrese didn't kill that guy. No way. He kept screaming "I won't" when he was beating him and wouldn't let Carol go in to see him.
And then there were these two gems that I missed: 1.) When Carol goes into the room where she meets Gareth's mom, she sees a bunch of personal items and among them are a TON of teddy bears. Which means the Terminus crew has no problem killing kids and has likely done it often. That's COLD. 2.) When Rick is looking for a way out and Bob suggests doubling back, he comes up with a plan which, in essence, goes like this "I bet there are a bunch of Terminus people coming by with those guns killing walkers. I'll wait until I think the last person goes by, kill him, take his gun and wound all the Terminus people just enough to leave them as bait to distract the walkers." Also SUPER COLD.
If this is the kind of thinking Rick is going to do this season, shit is about to get REAL dark.
Oh, and one last thing. A person on Talking Dead last night mentioned that Rick is now doing the things Shane never thought he could in order to protect the group. Let's discuss this here. 1.) How do you think things would be different if Shane were still around and 2.) What do we think was the turning point for Rick? Was it seeing Carl almost get violated by that gang last year?
    Interesting points of discussion.
    I love this show. :)

    TL;DR.

Just kidding, schie. Those are all excellent points, and something I'll have to watch out for when I rewatch the episode.

17.3 million viewers, likely to grow with DVR viewing. Them's NFL-like numbers and actually beat the NFL in the demo (18-49). Pretty huge for a 9 p.m. show.

Yep. And I'm not sure if they announced it before seeing the ratings for the premier or not, but the show has been renewed for Season 6.

That was just a top-notch effort from top to bottom.

The fact that Rick and crew were just willing to let the butchers become the cattle again was handled incredibly well.

Also, the crazy guy they freed from one of the containers, well apparently he was the one they showed at the end when they put Mary back in the train car and grabbed the other woman.

There is no place for Shane at this point, at least not as part of the group. If we could go back in time and had Shane disappear instead being clearly killed, maybe they could have written a new story arc where he returns as a villain.

    Good episode.
Unfortunately, now nothing will happen for the next eight episodes.

He would've fit in well as one of the Governor's higher-ranking henchmen. Would've fit in well with Season 3, too, considering their proximity to Woodbury when all of that went down.
