My argument is this: If they wanted to kill Glenn, wouldn't it have made more sense for them to have Nicholas shoot Glenn in the leg or something and shove him into the walker pit instead of having it shot in a way where Nicholas literally falls WITH Glenn (Go back and watch it) and it looks like he could very easily have landed on top of him?
Plus, this is a show that had no problem whatsoever having the walkers tear Noah's face apart. If they really wanted to kill Glenn, it would have been clear and we would've had walkers attacking his face as well as the body.
They left it open to interpretation which this show never does. There's a reason they did and that reason is he's not dead.

Also, I find it highly unlikely they're going to kill an original cast member in such a wishy-washy way. The only possibility that Glenn IS dead is if they have him come back as a walker and have Maggie find him but given the crowd of walkers there, I highly doubt there would be any of Glenn left to make that happen.
Ergo, we'd get no real closure. Ergo it's not going to happen.

Having never watched talking dead (I finally caught up on the series this summer and I have to DVR it because zombie gore is not my wife's bag) I can't say why they didn't do an in memoriam. They might be waiting for Maggie to either find what's left of him or have to finish him as a walker.

Let's say Nick did land on him first and that's who we saw the walkers dine on, how exactly did he a) not accidentally get bit and b) not get divoured when the walkers got through with Nick's body? That would be some serious ex machina. There has been some of that on this show, but if Glen lives, it will be the worst example of it since Brian landing in an alien ship after falling from a Roman spire.

I saw a few Facebook posts last night before I got to watch it, some proclaiming they killed a major character and that those friends were done watching the show.

Thirty minutes in, it was clear who was going to be offed in the episode -- but I don't believe it happened the way people think it went down. ...... is alive, somewhere. Whether that's about the bottom of that pile or in the dumpster, he's alive.

This has been one of my favorite seasons of the show so far.

That said, I despise the ambiguity here. I despise that Talking Dead adds fuel to that fire and that they're being coy about it. This has never been a show of halfway done.......the only other character whose fate was perhaps ambiguous that I can recall is early Merle....

I agree. If you are going to kill off such an important character, don't fuck around like this. If not, having him get out of that situation is some serious bullshit.

Which makes it even more obvious that he's still alive.

Glenn is a human being and therefore doesn't have intestines in his chest. Despite having most of his torso ripped apart, Glenn wasn't bleeding from the mouth, which we've seen from every other significant walker attack in the show's history. And the after show/producer statement issued a vague statement.

What more do people need? We saw fleeting seconds of him supposedly being eaten. It's no doubt designed to make us have at least some doubt that he's alive, and will no doubt play into that sense for the group. When he and Nicholas don't return after a while, there will be the belief that he may be gone. Or at least doubt that he's still alive. And at some point we'll see what his true fate is.

My guess is that after he recovers (somewhat) from the sight of Nicholas being eaten on top of him and from the fall, Glenn will realize he's not being eaten and will devise some sort of escape that becomes available to him. Whether it's under the dumpster or a manhole cover or a distraction (remember - they heard gun shots from that Alexandria while in that town), that will be his out. And I bet it will look a lot less ridiculous than people are imagining it will be.

The thing about the show, do you dare DVR it? It's the rare broadcast/cable show you don't want to wait a day to watch.

I have to as my wife is not a fan of gory images. And it sucks to avoid spoilers.

I do. But only because there are a million Sunday night shows I watch.

I imagine what will end up happening (most likely) is there will be a future episode this season when some fucked up stuff goes down and it ends in Glenn coming back in a surprise manner and then, bam, the credits roll on that episode. The next episode, we start off with the scene on top of the dumpster and then we see exactly how he gets out and the way in which is does appears much more logical and clear when the full picture is revealed.
What I don't understand is why they didn't use the stairway to the left of where they were standing or why they didn't attempt to hop from the dumpster to the fence on the right of where they were standing, where there were no walkers.
This, to me, is one of three likely scenarios.
The other two are (in terms of most likely to happen): 1.) Glenn doesn't come back so Maggie goes out to find him and manages to rescue him because he's trapped somewhere after getting out of the pile. 2.) We see zombie Glenn and someone in our group is forced to put him down.

Also, can I just say that I for one HOPE Glenn is still alive? I want to see how the show approaches Glenn's psyche after this.
His decision to let Nicholas live directly led to the deaths of at least two of the Alexandrians and almost (if he's alive) got Glenn killed.
I would love to see him wrestle with this and see how it plays on his actions down the line.
