"World War Z" will answer both of your questions. It's one of my faves.

I'll have to pick that one up sometime. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

In the event of a Zombie Apocalypse, I am finding a boat and heading to sea, hoping to find a nice, quiet and safe island to live on. I can pop into a port somewhere to look for more supplies when I need them.

With that said, can Zombies swim? or do they just walk on the bottom of the lake?

According to World War Z, they'll be at the bottom of the lake.

Oh, and according to the game, it's been nice knowing you all. I'll be dead at the first sign of trouble. ;D

A fake trailer for the WWZ movie with Brad Pitt:

It's just a mis-mash of zombie flicks and whatnot, but I still can't wait to see this movie come out. I hope they don't screw it up.

That's what I would do. Head to the nearest port or large lake, load up the biggest boat I could find and anchor offshore.

Brooks explores deeply the idea of going to an island, anchoring on the surface, or going deep underwater. The Zs will find you. I swear.

In fact, he explores every possible way I ever thought of plus many more about fighting, hiding or running from the Zs. It's just fantastic.

And the book is $7.99 right now at Amazon! Get on it! http://www.amazon.com/World-War-Oral-History-Zombie/dp/0307888681/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322841136&sr=8-1

In theory, though, if you moved out to an island in the middle of the ocean say, wouldn't you be fine? I mean, yes, if we concede that somehow zombies could survive walking under water (A point I don't understand but won't argue for the sake of discussion), wouldn't their already decomposing bodies be torn apart if they attempted to walk at the bottom of the ocean? The pressure alone should be enough to kill them, no?

There is no such thing as a "realistic portrayal of Zombie world."

I'm not sure the exact science behind it but without oxygen in their systems or much of anything, they're not buoyant, and can therefore walk in the water. Brooks also touches on how this works, but I don't remember the specifics. I read the book exactly 12 months ago.

Plus, I think sheer numbers alone, you're going to get a zombie or two. PLUS, think of all of the other folks who are going to pile on a boat and head toward the nearest island. You aren't alone. And even if you and your group aren't infected, chances are someone heading toward the same island is. And if that infected person zombiefies and takes one bite... well, it's probably all down hill on your little paradise island. Unless, Kelly Brook is on it (come on, i know you've at least seen parts of that shitty movie).
