It shows him trying to find his place in this world. He's a kid who would be doing shit in the regular world. Now he's in a fucked up place and doing it. Throwing rocks at a dead person? I mean... that's kinda dark. It's like how serial killers tortured animals and small children when they were kids and then grew up to kill people.

AV Club has a nice recap and I share much of its sentiments - http://www.avclub.com/articles/judge-jury-executioner,70248/

Everything I've seen just says in the fall.

So was this just a red herring or is this still going to happen? Questions...questions.

I too was in utter shock at the ending for Dale. Powerful stuff...but forced since Dale had not been developed much as a person in the show.

What does this do to Andrea's psyche? I hope they get into that. He was a father-figure to her a bit.

I think it real. Just because Dale is gone doesn't mean this can't still happen, too.

I think I'm the only one who truly missed how dark it was supposed to be. I thought he was just doing something risky as a kid until something goes terribly wrong.

Then we realize how truly fucked up he really is when he wants to see the execution.

Oh, and I haven't read any spoilers, so I don't know if this has been mentioned. But does anyone else think that Daryl's brother is the leader of the other gang?

Thinking over last night's episode, the only thing I don't understand is how the zombie really crept up on Dale.

I mean, he's in a wide-open field and can, theoretically, see everything in front of him. There was no place for the zombie to hide (Be it a tree or shed) adjacent to the slaughtered cow so the zombie had to come from behind Dale and, I guess, did so without Dale hearing him? And managed to get across that whole field in, what, 15 seconds? Without running?

Seems like a sloppy writing to me.

Sometimes I think they prefer teasing about Merle's return rather than having it happen. Just look at the teasers they ran for the second half of this season. The bit about Daryl holding a gun to somebody's head, but you can't see who as he says, "Sorry brother." You know that was a red herring. Of course, we found out last night that the head was Dale's.

I bought into the concept that the 'Sorry brother' was for his brother. But I'm guessing we'll get to that next season.

And I'm with 21 -- I didn't see the dark side of what Carl was doing. Just that he was being a stupid kid doing stupid shit.

It seems like Carl has been headed that way for a while. If he somehow manages to grow up, it sure seems like he'll turn out to be one nasty piece of work. Then again, you wonder if any kid growing up in that environment would do the same.

Dale was looking at a cow that I guess the zombie had taken a chunk out of just a bit earlier, then the zombie came up from behind Dale and knocked him to the ground.

I saw the scene. I'm just saying it's a bit far-fetched that Dale wouldn't have seen the zombie on his way toward the cow if the zombie was in his area. And if the zombie came from behind him, you would have to assume it was moving pretty quickly because Dale was only at the cow for a couple of seconds and there was no zombie anywhere in the field when they showed him walking in the direction of the cow.
