That was the right result, but next week is going to hurt. Really can't recall another season with so much pure talent. Fun to watch again.

Agree 115%. Although I'm pretty sure I'm going to be disappointed when P2 doesn't go home.

Me too. I was really hoping Hollie would get through, even if I didn't think she deserved it, just to watch him leave.

Just doing a drive-by here. I don't watch Idol, don't care about it, haven't watched more than a few minutes of any season that my wife didn't force me to.
I do, however, happen to live in Skylar Laine's hometown in Mississippi. It's amazing the way people have jumped on the bandwagon to support her. Most of the businesses here (and it's not an urban metropolis, but it's not a one-stoplight town either) have had some sort of "Vote for Skylar" sign in front of them or on their marquee. Passed one yesterday that said "We vote for Skylar," and somebody went and drew a "d" on the end of "vote."
She also returned home yesterday to make a few appearances. The Braves' Double-A team is located in a neighboring town and she sang the anthem tonight. They might draw a couple thousand on a great weeknight in May. They had 7,000-plus there tonight, which is a sellout.
Heard on the news that she's making appearances at a festival here this weekend. She was supposed to sign, but apparently the Idol folks put the kibosh on it.
Anyway, just some observations from the frontlines of Skylar-mania. It lives on, even when her quest to win Idol doesn't. No idea if she'll be able to keep the momentum up and turn it into a big-time career, but she can definitely work the Mississippi club and festival circuit for the next decade.

Happy with the result tonight. Not really much more to add then that.

Well, except to say that if this doesn't end up a Joshua-Jessica finale, then something's seriously wrong with America's ability to listen to music.

Still, I bet P2 wins it just to continue the streak of white guys prevailing despite the odds.

5 out of the 10 seasons produced a non-white guitar playing winner.

    What's the count been lately?

If anyone on the show was from Birmingham, I'd pick them.

Scotty McCreery didn't really play guitar, but he was definitely a non-threatening white boy. As were the four of the five winners prior to him (Lee DeWyze, Kris Allen, David Cook and Taylor Hicks, with non-non-threatening white boy Jordin Sparks between Hicks and Cook).
