Let's see: Who's had more success in recording thus far -- Elliott Yamin, Chris Daughtry or Taylor Hicks...

    Realistically, yeah, it matters.

    The winners:

    Kelly Clarkson
    Ruben Studdard
    Fantasia Barrino
    Carrie Underwood
    Taylor Hicks

    The runners-up:

    Justin Guarini
    Clay Aiken
    Diana DeGarmo
    Bo Bice
    Katherine McPhee

    Third place:

    Nikki McKibbin
    Kimberley Locke
    Jasmine Trias
    Vonzell Solomon
    Elliott Yamin

There's a pretty huge difference ther in the level of success. Losing doesn't automatically mean your career fails, obviously -- Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson prove that -- but winning almost guarantees success, and even second place can disappear instantly (like DeGarmo.)

How true. Jordin can't sing and walk at the same time. The Kim Novak of AI.

Jordin didn't do anything for me. I don't care that she's 17, has the looks, is marketable, etc. She doesn't have the same stage presence as the other two, which ought to factor into Blake making the finals.

Blake just sounded better every time. And Melinda was by far the best last night, so there's no chance she's going home. Right now, this is Melinda's show to lose.

I disagree completely, Oz. I think Jordin has great stage presence. Just because she doesn't slide all over the stage like Blake doesn't mean she doesn't command the attention.

I just think Blake is a one-trick pony, and as entertaining as it can be, I think his voice is one-dimensional and I just think he's tapped out.

Like I said, that's just me. Never been on the Jordin bandwagon to the extent of others here. Can't put my finger on it.

As for Blake being a one-trick pony, even those can sell a lot of records. They're on the radio every day.

If it means anything, VFTW is pushing Blake.

I'm with Shockey. I was stunned by his breakout performance a few weeks ago, but that's all that he's done for me. His voice is mediocre at best. His dance moves are contrived and fail completely. If he didn't bring something unique to the table, I'd put him on a par with Sanjaya.

He's unique. He proved last night that he doesn't have to have 16 measure beat box breakouts in his songs. He's fresh and new. I love him. I don't know who is going home after last night. All three were outstanding, but I think Blake and Jordin have great careers whether they leave tonight or not. I agree with whoever said Melinda needed to win to be able to have that career.
