I disagree and I have my reasons for it being racist, but you know what?

It's fucking American Idol so I'm not about to bust into a philosophical row over what is a glorified karaoke contest, my suspicions that Melinda had chops beyond cover tunes aside.

Actually, Elliott Yamin went out in this round last year. I think Chris Daughtry was fourth.

I'm glad I don't have to watch anymore. Jordin is a stone-cold lock to win. And I couldn't stand her.

  4. I don't understand how race played into it at all if the final four included two black women and another who is half black.
Really, I think more than anything, there were people who were just tired of Melinda's act and others who probably assumed she was safe so they voted for their favorite of the other two.

  5. Damn. I was so looking forward to a 600-word essay.

Unless you have some evidence to the contrary, I am inclined to believe that Melinda's far from a fake. Some people are just genuinely nice and humble. Not that any of you cynics would believe that, but...

Next week is going to be a Niners-Broncos type of rout.

To me, Melinda is the slam-dunk top draft pick who ends up slipping to third because teams have so much time between the end of the season and the draft to make the pick that they end up convincing themselves the best player is flawed. For months now, Melinda has been the popular pick to win it all. And she was so far ahead of the rest of the field that folks tried to convince themselves she shouldn't win. Like this fake aw shucks act...that I don't get. It seemed legit to me. Didn't you hear her tonight? The six feet from the back of the stage to the front is a long way to go for some people.

No knock on Jordin, who is the complete package and would likely win regardless of the opponent. But Melinda has the best chops on the show.

  8. I bought into it at first and it was fine for the first three or four weeks, but damn. You're a professional singer, consistently at the top of voting on a national TV show with millions of voters and even Simon Cowell is kissing your ass. The "shock" that you're good and people like you has to subside at some point and the confidence has to kick in.

    It got old.

Sorry, saying this choice was racist is bullshit. Blacks have consistently done well on Idol, including 3 of the top 4 this year. Somehow, I don't think the John Birch Society and the KKK went on a text-message frenzy for Blake.

  10. Sorry Dooley, but his royal highness The Bubbler has already proclaimed he is simply not going to debate racism on something as absurd as American Fucking Idol. The picture of the little boy yelling "It's racist" must suffice.

    ;D

I don't think this was racist. But I do think that this was done to:
    1. Get ratings because no one(except for us because well....we're cool like that :D ) would've expected this.
    2. To create controversy.

So the 60 million voters got together to rig a controversy? Don't think so. The judges queered the thing? No, the best-known one said Melinda should be in the final, and another one said Blake should be gone. If it was somehow fixed, you'd have a scandal that would put the one that Quiz Show was based on to shame.
