I wonder how they'll package Blake. He's at his best when he's singing the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack but that's not as "hip" or conducive, I suppose, to the beat-boxing stuff.

    Good.

    Not a fucked-up year.

    Well done.

And, again, mad props to Simon Cowell.

Carries the entire show on his back.

21, Jordin's mom is crying now.

    Way to go, Jordin! Woo-hoo!

sorry, but it was a fucked up season ... Jordin is probably the weakest winner since Ruben. On most seasons she'd be lucky to be in the final 3. From the beginning of the finals, this group of contestants was inconsistent. Melinda and Lakisha had personality/charisma issues. Jordin had up and down weeks throughout. Blake isn't your traditional singer, but more of a performer. And, that was the top 4.
Dancing With the Stars drew higher ratings last night for a reason. AI better hope that next year's crop of contestants is up to par or the slow slide in the ratings is going to continue.

I was on the phone with Wachovia when the winner was announced. A live human had just answered when they announced the winner, and I said "Yay, Jordin" then apologized. She laughed and said I was the third caller in a row that was watching it. :D

As much as I think Jordin is overrated, I now see that even Haley, much less she, is a mile better than Taylor Hicks. And Studdard's voice is awesome.

The best part, the only part I've seen all year was when Ryan Seacrest said, "We'll see you in January."

The Sgt. Pepper bit was misbegotten. The Green Day performance was the best of the night. And Jordin can only dream of having Gladys Knight's voice. Jordin owes the songwriting winner her career at this point. Once the starmaking machinery gets ahold of her, it'll be interesting to see how she does. Taylor, OTOH, has no hope.

    Sorry, I gotta do it:

    Who beat?

Actually, Dancing With The Stars won because it attracts retirees. In adults 18-49, the demo that advertisers are interested in, AI won 9.1 to 6.6.

The overall point is legit, though - Idol's numbers are lower than usual right now.

I can lay off IJAG in the Kelly/Carrie debate, but if you think that Taylor Hicks is better than Sparks, you need a Miracle Ear.
