Ratings down by 7 million compared to last year's finale.

That's that anorexic sorority whore on Neil Cavuto's show?

She's also a prostitute for some Wall Street power broker who is pushing the right buttons to begin tossing higher insurance premiums on those who fail to meet a height/weight scale that says 180 pounds is overweight for a 6-foot male, or that anything above 120 is overweight for a female at any height. Or, they won't hire you at all. They are so inspired by today's soap operas as to position their companies for their own reality TV show.

There is a special place in hell for these people.

I think Clarkson looks better without makeup. She's definitely the girl next door. Underwood is a sculpture from the perfect specimen. Both are good therefore in their own ways.

    They had two problems:

    1. Everybody knew Jordin was going to win.

    2. Now that the show has been around a while, its clear that there are no high stakes in the finals. Whoever gets into the finals has built a certain audience and will at least get a chance at a career.

Of course, there was also the problem of it not being that good of a show last night.

The ratings were down 10 percent all season. And a 20-percent drop for the finale is nothing to brush off.

Looks like the wave crested last year.

Next season will be interesting. I wonder if they'll tweak the show, but the point I raised on another thread might be taking hold: No matter what guest artists they bring in, no matter how shrill Simon is . . . this has all been done before.

Rossi on point once again. A show is on long enough and the same "personality-types" repeat, (Diva, cute teen, rocker, R&B guy, country boy, crooner, etc.) contestants are familiar enough with the show to act a certain way and it loses its freshness. Its less likely we're going to see something we have never seen before. I see Jordin Sparks and I think of Paris Bennett or Kimberly Caldwell; Melissa/LaKisha reminds me LaToya London/JHud; etc.

Survivor has done a good job minimizing this by attracting contestants that never watched the show, so they don't try and copy previous contestants behavior.

The finish (and year overall) was a letdown of sorts after a strong season 5. I think the judges had a poor year this time around, repeating themselves, play fighting (poorly) with Ryan and adding very little. It seemed too scripted in many ways, like the producers were afraid to try anything lest the ratings go down. Which they did anyway. And let the singers sing to their strengths more often, rather than forcing themes that can hurt non-genre talents.

Just clicked on iTunes and noticed the "Jordin Sparks EP" right next to the "Blake Lewis EP." Both have five songs. They don't waste any time, do do they?

    Jordin's
    1. This Is My Now (Single)
    2. I Who Have Nothing (British Invasion)
    3. A Broken Wing (Martina McBride)
    4. To Love Somebody (?)
    5. Wishing On A Star (?)

    Blake's
    1. You Give Love A Bad Name
    2. Time of the Season (British Invasion week)
    3. I Need To Know (Marc Anthony)
    4. Long Song (Cure)
    5. When The Stars Go Blue (Country week)

  12. I saw that too. I've already downloaded Green Day's cover of "Working Class Hero." I have no idea if that was available before last night, but its popularity right now is through the roof.
