I watched all of the auditions and the Hollywood portion, but when I saw that it was two hours last night, two hours tonight, and an hour on Thursday... Fuck that...

I'll start watching again when it's down to 12. I hope Chris Sligh makes it. I don't think he has a chance in hell to win the thing, but I still hope he goes far.

I was stunned Sundance made it as far as he did. I think the judges became enamored with him because he's related to someone who had success in the industry, sort of what happened last year with that Paris girl, who was extremely mediocre, but the judges acted like she was the greatest thing ever...

But he can't sing on key.

Yeah - Cotter had pitch problems. It's a hard song to sing, though. Try it. Right now. Sing the chorus out loud. It's hard as hell -- not what you'd call a simple melody.

What I liked about Cotter is that he owned it. He may have been pitchy, but he didn't have a look on his face like, "Oh shit."

I think beatboxer could end up winning it. I really do. And he'll have to beatbox to do it. The show's been on for five years now, and it's produced some pretty safe acts. Looking at the group of good but not great singers in this year's class, I'm thinking it's going to take something fresh and a little unique. If he can figure out a way to put the beatboxing in with his singing in such a way that it enhances the overall performance, I think he'd be the only male that will stand out.

And Cotter pulled it together in the end, which is what people will remember. If you can belt, that's what you need right now.

I'm telling everybody watch the heavyset African American girl from New York. She has the voice and the talent.
And all this Simon bashing is wrong. The guy knows what he's looking for. He wants a unique talent. I think that's one reason why he was down on the kid from Chessapeake, Va. He looks and sounds like Justin Timberlake but he ain't no Justin Timberlake.

i was extremely disappointed in the show. The last guy, Phil, at least had some soul in his voice, but none of them seemed like they could win. Simon was exactly right with almost all of his comments. the Chesapeake guy sounded so nasally and he thought he was good. It was horrible. Curly-haired guy wasn't good. The only guys I said, "I'm looking forward to what they do next week," were Cotter, Blake Lewis and Phil. how did the bollywood guy ever make it this far?

Agree with the last two posts, except I'm not feeling Phil.

Well I just looked on iTunes, and that Keane song-- an old song-- is one of the most downloaded. The show is unbelievable.

These artists are smart to clear their songs for Idol. It's a good way to make a quick buck.

The african american guy who sang the Brian McKnight song "At One" was decent. His ending was fucked up and that completely turned me off. Randy was right on that call.
The last guy, the bald sailor, has some talent but it's like he was either holding back or singing the wrong key. He was good enough to pass this round but he must do better.

Don't forget, "I don't believe in patronizing people. You can do that all you want on your radio show, but I'm not going to patronize people."

The male group was subpar, and the commentary, for once, reflected that. Blake looks and sounds like a finalist, whether he goes Fat Boys Beat Box or not (that would be a trip, though).

I'm not loving Blake as much as everybody else.

Thought his performance was very patchy.

Hope the women are better. If they're not, it's going to be a dreary season.

Heck, Ace Young from last year would be running ahead of this pack.

Hottest dozen women Idol has ever fielded, that's for sure.

They are playing a version of that great song that closed out Six Feet Under right now.... awesome.
