It's going to be profoundly weird to walk into the Bernstein pit next year and not see coolers full of Bud.

    Oh, that's classic Paterno.

I cover Division III basketball for one of the bigger programs in the Great Lakes and the SID/media relations director gives us $5 vouchers for the concession stands. Ya, the food is mostly hot dogs, pretzels, BBQ, chips, etc., but it still isn't bad. Might have to put a buck or two with it, but it's a discount at least.

The Sun and Outback Bowl in Tampa had great hospitality rooms staffed by good people.

I have enjoyed a cold beer in the press box a time or two, also. Much better than a cookie after a long day.

Seriously? Wish the rest of Coastal's staff for the other sports would do the same...

Been there, done that. My folks are both smokers and I would snag them 4-5 packs. I will have to admit (cross thread) I'm glad that part is a bygone era because along with the free cigs came a cloud of smoke in the press box you couldn't see through.

I covered a couple of bass tournaments back in the day when Red Man and Skoal were sponsors. There was plenty of free tobacco available.

I was covering hoops at Mississippi State once and got a concession stand voucher. Picked out what I wanted to eat, had some voucher left over and got an MSU insulated mug. Still using it, and that was six years ago.

i made one sun bowl trip and it was easily the best ever, although it's been a while. Seemed like everytime i turned around, a Mexican bandido was there with tequila bottles in his holsters handing out free shots, and the "tequila poppers" were outstanding.
we did the day thing into juarez.
Cabbie asks us -- Would you boys like to see some girls?
    We said no.
Next question -- would you boys like to see some girls with some ponies?
    We said no.
We were warned about being across the border after dark, and we took that advice. In juarez, we drank Dos Equis and corona for 75 cents a bottle.

2under, was that the same night a mutual acquaintance of ours got up to take a whiz in the middle of the night, walked out his hotel room door in his tighty-whities into the hallway instead of into the bathroom, and got locked out of his room?
