i'll be eager to see what Whitlock has to say on this one ... but I think Bol over @ XXL pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one:

Bol is largely full of shit, but every once in a while he writes something worth a damn.

A piece of toast with Strom Thurmond's face in it?

  8. That's very unkind to toast.

Based on what Cam’ron said on “60 Minutes,” do you think any sane person wants him as a next-door neighbor? Based on the picture he painted, don’t you think it’s a little more difficult today to convince viewers of that show that there are black men in prison worthy of rehabilitation?

Not if they saw '60 Minutes' the week before:

Okay, at the risk of repeating myself and becoming a Whitlock follower, I'll say again this is damn fine thinking. Good writing can't come without good thinking, and Whitlock is deeper into this issue than anyone I have read or heard. I haven't completely investigated or accepted the premise of the Reagan argument, but the broader points are incredibly well-stated (incredible because he was so fantastically wrong in his diatribes on events surrounding Barry Bonds passing Ruth/breaking the HR record.)

So, with that effusive praise, I'll offer this question of critcism. Should "sellout" not be seperated into two words for the particular usage?

  11. point of order i'm right about bonds, too.

No you're not. But the fact that you combine passion and good sense in your columns is what's more important. And what about my other question, shouldn't it have been sell out, and not sellout?
