Sorry to bump this one, but Billy Payne dodged some questions about the actual issue at a presser today. Pretty much what I expected.

By all the accounts I read (ESPN cut off showing the presser after the first question Payne took about the issue -- huge fail), Payne got crushed at the presser. Very, very good follow-up questions like "what would you tell your granddaughter?", etc., and he dodged them all.

Really thought he'd handle it better. Not necessarily open up like he was on Oprah, but at least be ready. He looked like he thought answering one question would be enough.

It doesn't matter. Four more days and no one will ask again for another year.

Well, I know nobody will around the ol' He-Man Woman Haters' Club.

His state of the Masters speech? Really?

The club President always has a press conference/briefing on the tournament. It's really hard to fill practice round notes columns on the second day.

That really was some blistering follow-up, though.

Huntsville columnist compared Payne to Chevy Chase addressing the Paraguyans in Spies Like Us.

  9. NPR is reporting IBM CEO Ginni Rometty is at Augusta this morning sporting a green jacket.

    So yeah...

Going to be a lot of journalists wishing they had entered the lottery for Monday's round.

What? They all entered the lottery anyway? Oh.

I'll take "Things that won't end well" for 500, Alex.

I thought Wetzel's column on Yahoo on this was done pretty well. I especially liked his pointing out the perceived paradigm shift from before to now vis-a-vis IBM's Rometty:
