Actually, Romney said if he was a member, he'd lobby for a woman to be in the club.

That was a painful and ridiculous read.

She showed herself to be a total dumb ass by stating the course was unplayable. It never was. And the storm that damaged the one bathroom was Tuesday night. Don't really see her point, other than rehashing, very badly, the week's events.

    Martha Burke on CNN mow.

She's as upset with IBM as she is with Augusta National.

She says they are "undermining" her by not demanding she be made a member. She says they should tell Augusta National that if they want IBM's sponsorship dollars, they'll show her "some respect" and offer her membership.

I'm not sure that would be the best way to accomplish their goal. IBM benefits from this sponsorship, otherwise they wouldn't be spending their money on it. I would think Augusta National would be able to replace them as a sponsor pretty quickly. They have so few sponsors, there is still a lot of demand.

She also directed anger at IBM's Chairman, who is a member, for not standing up for her.

This is either poorly written, or Martha Burke is batshit insane.

Is she arguing IBM is undermining her, or Rometty(sp)? Because saying "She says they are undermining her" means Burke. But she can't be saying that, right?

    I'm sure it's poorly written.

Of course she meant Rometty. I used "her" because I didn't feel like looking up the correct spelling of her name. (You got it right, btw.

  9. The words "uber harpy" should always precede any mention of Martha Burke.

Is Martha is privy to Rometty's thoughts on this? She's the CEO of IBM, seems likely she can handle the situation without Martha Burke's input.

The host asked Martha, "what if she's not interested in becoming a member?"

Martha said it was beside the point.

But, the truth is, not everyone wants to be "first". There will be a lot of pressure on the first woman member at Augusta National, and maybe Rometty doesn't want it distracting from her current job.

She gets to entertain clients during the Masters, and can probably arrange for a round for a top client. maybe that's enough for her.

"That's beside the point" ?? STFU, Martha.

Yeah, maybe Rometty DID get an invite and say no. I doubt it, though it's entirely possible. But I'm sure she just loves Burk talking on her behalf. Not.
