I actually only mentioned Tara Sullivan not getting in the door because it fit way too well with the previous posts.

But it really doesn't matter what ANGC does. Everyone will be back for more.

    Here's the part that I don't get ...

Would AGNC be a worse place if they had women members? To act like having (pick any successful, deserving female) as part of the group would hurt the club somehow is mind-boggling.

That said, I'm probably part of the problem, as I'll watch hours and hours of Masters coverage and wish I was there. I've been there a few times for practice rounds and loved every minute of it.

    I don't watch the Masters.

And what's doubly disturbing are our brethren who look the other way and ignore an odious organization and its backward ways. And for what? For many, so they can cream their pants just to play a round of golf and gulp down a bunch of phony-baloney tradition.

Years ago I read a book on Bobby Jones-- wish I could remember what-- anyway, inside the book was a picture of Jones walking the undeveloped land that would become Augusta National-- WITH a woman. It was a woman he played golf with frequently, and I believe she was giving him her thoughts on how the course should lay out.

To present a "founding fathers"-type argument, I doubt this is what Bobby Jones would have wanted.

What does that club "stand for"? I sure as hell have never seen an official mission statement. You may think it "stands for" some such thing or another because of its membership policies, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'd be correct.

“I am a member of the Belizean Grove, a private organization of female professionals from the profit, nonprofit and social sectors,” Judge Sotomayor wrote. “The organization does not invidiously discriminate on the basis of sex. Men are involved in its activities — they participate in trips, host events and speak at functions — but to the best of my knowledge, a man has never asked to be considered for membership.”
Sotomayor said she resigned from the Belizean Grove to prevent the issue from becoming a distraction in her confirmation hearings.

Wait a minute - what is a wrong with a men-only golf club? Or a woman-only golf club?

I'm not seeing why people sponsoring this event is a big deal?

It is a private club, it is a golf tournament - last I checked neither one is necessity items.

Further, the only reason we go through these "protests" is because the She-Man Man Hating club has become very irrelevant these days as most people don't give a shit about their rants - and therefore they look for every opportunity for free publicity.

And since this is a high profile event, they show up to try and get on TV.

This is the biggest non-story every single year.

If people want to play on a private course with private members, they can and should be able to.

As a private club, Augusta National has the right to accept or deny anyone it wants.

As Americans, we have the right to chastise them for the choices they make.

One will not stop the other from happening.

    Carry on.

Be interesting to note if Augusta National has ever received or benefited from Federal or State funds.

I wonder who pays for all that traffic control during tournament week? Hmmm.

The traffic control isn't on their property.

Doesn't matter. If the state's using state money to direct traffic for the Masters, ANGC directly benefits.

Not saying it happens. But an interesting thought experiment for those who insist a private club is entirely private at all times.

In fact, I'd be very surprised if ANGC doesn't pay local and county and state law enforcement to provide those sorts of security services.
