Madonna meets that criteria for pop, not for rock 'n' roll. Then again, I didn't think last year's inductee Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five were rock either.

I guess the voters feel Rush, Cheap Trick and KISS fall short on the influence portion of that or the significance portion.

If you take into consideration the music Chicago made between '69 and '78, it deserves to be in the HofF. It's a shame the band lost its edge when Terry Kath died.

The Moody Blues also deserve a spot in the hall.

It was Permanent Waves that first turned me on to Rush, and then I discovered the early albums. I've been a fan since.

As for Peart getting in for drumming and songwriting, I think he'd refuse it unless Geddy and Alex were going in with him.

Well, PCLL, I agree it's just an annual pissing match. Rush will probably never get in, but sure as hell not because they don't deserve to, especially when you look at many of the others who are in. Whatever the criteria, it's off base with regard to them not only never getting in, but not even getting nominated. To not even get nominated is just a total joke.

OK, I've emptied my bladder at this point. Pissing match over.

My vote goes for Dave Clark Five and The Ventures. "Glad All Over" got Eddie Van Halen into music.

Yes isn't in? That is a travesty.

Old Rolling Stone reviews say Rush is getting closer to being like the Police, meaning it as a co0mpliment.

Well . . . they're both trios with bass players who sing, true.

But a listen to both bands' albums sort of torpedoes the rest.

Madonna - Maybe...there's a lot worse crap in the HOF
    Chic - No
    John Mellencamp - No
Beastie Boys - Wait five years
    Afrika Bambaataa - Maybe
    Leonard Cohen - No
    Dave Clark Five - No
The Ventures - YES! Should've been in already. Greatest instrumental rock band of all time.
Donna Summer - IF Madonna gets in, then why not.

This list absolutely sucks. Alice Cooper, Kiss, The MC5, Iggy Pop are still not in and we're discussing this crap.

Wait . . .you think Geddy's voice sucks, but "loved Rush up until Permanent Waves?"

That was the period when his voice was at its most shrieky. Since about the Signals period (1982), he's really toned it down from that early screaming.

And . . Genesis should be in; I thought they were. Yes, maybe. What will they do, have 20 guys on stage "Here's all the people who have ever been members of Yes!"

    I'm wavering on KISS.

KISS has to be one of the most popular concert acts of all time. Think of how many shows they have played all over the world. I think the only two bands who can probably claim more fans have paid to see them are the Rolling Stones and Metallica (yes...they've only been around 25 years, but they've done some suicidal touring runs where they were playing to 70 and 80 thousand a night for many, many years)...and I'm not even sure about that.

It wasn't for the vocals, believe me. Just like no one loves the Beach Boys because of Mike Love's singing and lyrics.
