Geddy's voice is no more irritating than Neil Young's.

Rush has done nothing close to the equivalent of Rocking in the Free World or The Needle and the Damage Done. Trying to get Rush in by diminishing Neil Young is a crock.

    Let's see...

    Rock trio...

Bass-playing singer who spends much of the time singing falsetto...

    Technically strong guitarist...

Drummer who is almost a lead instrumentalist, revered for his ability (though detractors might argue overplays at times, becoming somewhat of a distraction from the song as a whole)...

Lyrics fans find complex and deep, and non-fans find incredibly pretentious...

And the key to all of that is the catchy tunes. Technical proficiency? I'll give the edge to Rush. I'll take Van Halen in every other category. And this is rock and roll, so being boozing, drugged-out skirt chasers may give them bonus points.

Listen to "La Villa Strangiato," "YYZ" and "Natural Science" and tell me that Rush is nothing more than a trio of musically technical robots.

    Good grief ...

Mellancamp, Beasties and Madonna for sure. Summer also a strong rock/disco choice; we're not talking Lipps Inc.
    And the Pretenders rule(d).

Whatever. I was merely saying that you ripping Geddy's voice is a lame shot at Rush. I appreciate Neil Young's talents, but I used him as an example because as great as he is, his voice has always annoyed me.

I dislike Rush and enjoy KISS, so I guess I split down the middle. There's other bands that should be considered, but never will be.

    Mott The Hoople
Small Faces (how they never made it in America is beyond me)
    Genesis
    The Faces
    Raspberries
    Big Star

    ... etc.

The more the years go on, the more I've realized the whole idea of a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is dumb, as if you could enshrine people's tastes. To illustrate, I considered starting a thread about who should be in the Actor/Actress Hall Of Fame and see how that goes.

The Faces, yes. Is Jeff Beck in the R&RHOF?

Yeah, as a member of The Yardbirds.

Dude, should the Carrie Nations be in the RRHOF?

    Of course.

Lennon and McCartney would have sold their souls just to write something one tenth as awesome as "Sweet Talkin' Candy Man" or "Look On Up at the Bottom".
