The Carolina way. Ha! Sorry if I don't shed a tear.

Not sure choosing a former North Carolina governor to lead the investigation gives the best impression of objectivity.

Seems to me these investigations would be best led by authority from OUTSIDE the state. I'll give Penn State credit for doing so by selecting a former FBI Director and Federal prosecutor to lead theirs. But UNC selecting someone who owed his political career to currying favor from North Carolina voters is bound to invite questions.

Isn't there something more than a tad ironic about someone who allegedly took an Applied Ethics course being in the middle of a Bibically-sized academic scandal? I certainly think so.....

Pat Forde with a solid take. As he points out, this makes a nice test case to see if Emmert actually means the words he spoke about the Penn Sate penalties.

Given that this is a traditional NCAA rules violation, why does UNC deserve the Penn State treatment?

Too soon to declare definitively that this will be a major NCAA infractions case. This whole thing depends on whether the NCAA will keep the statute of limitations principle in place. If it does, then anything prior to 2007 is irrelevant.

And they can go to class for free while they are "working."

Some may think I'm biased here but UNC does not deserve the Penn State treatment.
