Now was this part really necessary?

Why not just leave it at this?:

Instead, this post comes across as sanctimonious and ignorant to the pitfalls, however minor in their eyes, to the current system.

    I use Twitter.

I also share a name with a relatively well-known movie star.

About once a week, some asshole I don't know will do an @ message to me asking why I'm trying to rip the guy off.

My bio says where I'm at and what I do, and neither one uses "Hollywood" or "actor" or "currently married to and banging Scarlett Johansson."

    So fuck off, Intertubes.

    Fuck the Internet.

Twitter says they never had an agreement with LaRussa and plan on fighting it. Good for them!

Yeah, you might want to verify it's actually a coach before using it in a story.

Seems some Arkansas fanboi loosers set up the account to poke fun at their former coach. But the NEMS staff didn't realize the real Nutt wouldn't post things like how much he enjoys chewing his nails during the fourth quarter.

Thought this was pretty telling about how important copy editors are from that first NEMS article:

It was by no means a an informative or insightful message, but it's what hundreds have signed up for: "Its a great day to be a bulldog."

That, grammatical errors and all, is what Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen sent out to his mass of Twitter followers on Tuesday.

And here's an article that ran in Sunday's Herald by Michelle Kaufmann about the Twitter phenomenon:

Welcome to the world of social media. The egos rule the roost. Remember, we now have everyday Joes, PR pros and web designers pontificating on how journalism should be done.

I love Twitter, Facebook and all the rest of it, but man, sometimes the unmitigated gall of some people make me want to throw my laptop into the Bow.
