I'm as big a P-D fan as anyone on the board mainly due to my love for all things Cardinals, but ya... that media day BS was bush league.

This thread's fun. Keep up the suspense, Moddy.

St. Louis is the epitome of the one-second-class-newspaper town. No reason for ownership to dent the profit margin in the name of proper journalism, given the other media options. If they're doing buyouts and layoffs, they might as well skip media days too. While bosses order up another Lexus or lake home.

Anyone handicapping the race to become sports editor in St. Louis?

In Houston, the assistant immediately moved up. Ditto in Indianapolis a while back.

A board favorite is talking to ESPN... It will be a hell of a hire if it happens and it's not for a writing position...

Uh, yeah Mizzou. That's what we've been saying all along.

I've got the favorite at 2-1, but I'd watch out for the No. 7 post at a reasonable 10-1 on first-time Lasix and a 3-month layoff.

(sorry, the word "handicapping" kinda gets me going)

As we type, here is one columnist for a major metro ... and I do mean major ... playing ESPN vs. Yahool

Damn, I need to self edit ... let's try this again: As we type, there is a columnist for a major metro daily playing ESPN vs. Yahoo
