Anyone hear Kornheiser on the Dan Patrick show?

No kidding, Jason. It's not TK had to tell us this.

Wilbon is infinitely smarter than Theismann, will get more of what TK says - the finer nuances, layers, etc. - and Theismann has to know he'd be a fool to get in the argument machine with Kornheiser. It's not even close.

I look forward to TK this year, in stark contrast to the other two. Tirico is skilled, but makes too much of things that don't matter much. Theismann? Meh.

TK should be there to call Theisman when he starts fellating the players and coaches. He should interject humor when he can, but his primary function should be as a hatpin to deflate the constant hyperbole.
That's the dynamic that worked with Howard.
Instead they're going to put the emphasis on TK being funny. They want to make a clown out of him.

Since 'MNF' is just another football game, I'd prefer if it was produced as such. Give me two guys in the booth — not Michaels and Madden. Cut down on the hyperbole and fellatio. Do the play-by-play, provide some analysis and other than that let the game speak for itself.
One of the main reasons I have lost interest in the NFL is the network's constant approach that there has to be 'more.' Pump up the fun, pump up the game, pump up the buffoonery.
    I can't stand it, although I realize I'm a minority.

I sadly and ashamedly confess that I still follow the NFL, but I agree with you Buck. The glitz and glam is out of hand.

Do they still have that dopey Horse trailer, which I to this day, don't understand the purpose of?

I still follow it, too, Rosie. I'm just no longer an avid fan.
The NFL has drifted to the fourth of the big four in which I'm interested.
But I would still follow it, even if my job didn't keep me up to date.

  6. Big fan of Mizzougrad 96, but ... Tony hardly lost his radio show. He just didn't want to do it anymore. The Mothership would kill to have the show back on.

What ESPN really ought to do is kick Theismann's ass to the curb and put Wilbon in his slot. Then Wilbon and Kornheiser could do their thing while Tirico gives down and distance. Theismann adds absolutely nothing to the broadcast -- no wit, no ex-player insight, no inside information, nothing. But at least he had some chemistry with Paul Maguire. With him and TK there's nothing, and it makes both of them look bad.

    Ha ha, that'd be funny.

Tirico: Culpepper under center as it's 3rd and 5 from the Dolphins 45.

Mr. Tony: And what's with this guy this year? He's playing like a bum. A stinking bum.

    Wilbon: Wrong, Tony. Wrong.

What's the point of going into an interview where you know you're the target of ridicule and aggression on national tv, especially by a thin-skinned colleague of your's and one of his best friends? Farhi writes about a lot of local tv and radio stuff, but I still say it's different.

If one of your co-workers also had a radio or tv show, would you go on with him knowing they're going to skewer the hell out of you?

There is not a single profession filled with thinner-skinned people.

This board is hard evidence of that.

Well, maybe I misunderstood TK when during his last radio show on ESPN, he kept saying, "This is killing me. There's more to this that I can't share on the radio..."

It was hardly a secret that he was battling with the higher-ups there about the radio show I know there were certain ESPN people like Stuart Scott and a couple others who he wasn't allowed to talk about on the air...

I admit I don't know the whole story. Maybe all those factors led to him quitting... All I know is that since his show ended I can't handle sportstalk radio for more than just a few minutes...
