I fear that FNL is going the way of "Over There."

God, "Over There" was such a great show. Great characters, great camerawork and solid writing. And then, bam, GONE after one season.

If FNL doesn't last past this season, it'll be an absolute shame.

I think the critic acclaim is enough to garner at least one more season despite the low ratings.

It wasn't enough for Freaks and Geeks, which ruled, ruled, ruled.

But what happens next year ... ultimately, the show is about a football team. This team can't go to state every year this show is on.

As much as I like this show, I'd almost rather see a one-and-done scenario, and leave it as one of my all-time favorite dramas.

i don't think they have to go to state after this year -- if the do make it this year. the show is now developed enough that it's about the characters. who cares if the team wins?

    Perhaps.
It's definitely set up for Street to comeback as QB coach; and everyone else to return to Dillon as hicks. All depends on the coaches decision.

If it was one and done they should have put it on HBO so we could see Lyla, Tyra, MILF & Mrs. Taylor naked.

Maybe there's a community college to be built in town. Or maybe they'll all go to play for the coach at Texas S&M. Of course, they'd have to change the title to Saturday Afternoon Sunshine.

I think they'll do fine introducing new guys into the script every year. They have done a great job of capturing some of the things that high school football is. And one of the most fascinating things about it is how quickly you go from rooting for a team to preparing a new cast of people. The question is whether they can continue to bring in great actors. Or how much of their success is the result of the writers? And how long do these writers stick around before moving on to bigger things?

it's also set up for coach to go to TMU and for it all to end. i know you just said that, but i'm just saying.

i watched it on TiVo last night. terrific episode. the game in cow pasture was silly though because no state athletic association would allow that. lawyers would have to get involved.
