Anyone still watching Friday Night Lights?

Just watched this week's on NBC.com. What a great show. When Mrs. Irish first made me watch this back in September, I thought it was going to suck. Now I tell anyone who'll listen it's the best show on network TV. I hope NBC keeps it, but it'd be hard to keep up at this level. And as someone said, if they don't it will go down as one of the one-season all-time greats.

I can't remember, how many kids on the team are seniors?

Of the main characters, I think just Street and Riggins.

As some have said, it's no huge plot killer to keep them around. Though I am intrigued by the idea of bringing in a whole new group.

BTW, I think they lose state.

    That's it?
This is easy. Street becomes the quarterback coach and Riggins doesn't have the grades to go anywhere. I don't really care for Street's girlfriend so it doesn't matter where she goes.

I bet they have two season finales shot. If they get cancelled, they win state. Renewed, they lose in a heartbreaker and coach decides to come back because of that.

BTW, I like how they handled the train derailment. Up in our neck of the woods trains have been hopping of the track like Britney hops out of rehab. I couldn't help but laugh when it happened. One just derailed two weeks ago.

Isn't Bissinger still in charge of the writing?

If so, I bet they lose.

What's so amazing about this series is that it is 10,000 times better than the movie and the movie wasn't bad...

I heard on E! that it is almost definitely coming back, which is obviously a very, very good thing...

Another good episode that makes me think they're setting us up for a cliffhanger finale next week.

Anyone have any clue yet if this show is coming back?

Well, it just won a Peabody, so there's a lot more hope now. It's also expected to do very well come Emmy time. I'm guessing three Emmy nominations, maybe four.

By the way, I love NBC bitching about how this show just isn't catching on with viewers despite the critical acclaim. In the meantime, they've done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help it. A moron could see that moving FNL to follow Heroes would've done wonders for both shows. The audience for those two shows are virtually identical. But instead of doing that, the network continued to run Studio 60, which would've been far better off following something like Law and Order or Medium, and The Black Donnellys, which, I've got to say, isn't a bad show and would probably also benefit from following a more adult lead-in.

Yeah, Donnelys isn't doing any better in that spot than S60 did.

Might just be a shit spot.

    Loved last night's. ...

Riggins' line about Saracen was laugh-out-loud funny; and Lyla showing up to bust Street was also a jaw-dropping moment.

I loved her telling him, very calmly, "don't come back."

    Love love love this show.

I thought Street shoulda dropped a line like, "How's this any different than you fuckin' Riggins?"
