Loved the coach and Street giving Saracen the treatment.

    "Absolutely no laurels, Saracen."

Riggins line at the roast cracked me up, too, though I saw it coming.

I was also interested to see if Smash would hang himself with the rope he was given by his girl.

That was surprising, to say the least.

The thing that impresses me most about this show and makes the characters so likeable is, despite this being a dramatization, the actions/reactions of these people are so real. Julie's non-verbal reaction to hearing that her dad took the job; the MILF making the decision to protect her son's emotions despite her physical desires; Riggins seeking out companionship with his ex, an obvious kindred spirit; Street pushing away Lyla, because she represents something he isn't, anymore; Landry's reaction to seeing Tyra and Riggins together (whoever wrote that sequence definitely knows women).

Absolutely fantastic show and I'm glad it sounds like NBC is on a mission to get this show recognized. It's among my 3 favorite shows on television right now.

    Agreed, Gimpy.

I'd add coach's wife in the final scene. Understated, but on the nose.

Gimpy, Landry's frustration with Tyra at the roast was so well done. You see him kind of steaming there, just caught in purposeful thought, and you know he's going to say something ... I'm glad they wrote it the way they did and left that bit of drama hanging until the finale.

I'm also glad Lyla and Street aren't working out. It seemed cliche at first to put the head cheerleader and the quarterback together, but the more they explore that dynamic, they show the human side of it. Lyla's clearly not capable of handling multiple stressful situations ... and Street has turned a page in his life.

    Just love this show.

    i'm a big fan, too...

and honestly, the best part was the way riggins delivered the line at the roast, and his wait for laughter which didn't come. great acting

Great, great show... It's probably the best show on network TV in the last five years or so...

I NEVER thought they would be able to pull this off... It's also about 1,000X better than the movie, and the movie wasn't half bad...

    I'm just kidding, Mizzou.

Just a snark on the thread title. :)
