So when he walked back in..... did he decide he's coming back anyway, or was that goodbye?

If Connie wants to come home to Lynchburg, I'd buy her a beer. :D

Seriously, though, the fact that Boise State tied the Fiesta Bowl with that hook and ladder play made that seem somewhat plausible.

Gonna be very tough to play this with him in Austin. My money is on him staying.

Well, I'd imagine that's why you'll have to tune in next year.

Yeah, the football scenes are pretty painful, aren't they? Most ridiculous is that everything must be done by Saracen Smash or Riggins, so when a defensive player runs back a fumble for a touchdown they can't even say the guy's name.
    But, yes, great, great show.

It's funny. The season ends with the team winning state on a last-second play. And my favorite part was when Tyra had to get out of the station wagon and apologize to Lila.

I sort of expected them to lose that game. But I'll tell you where the producers really blew it. If they were going to have the team win, they could have held the second half until next season. That would have drove some people insane. Also, it would have been nice, but perhaps unbelievable, if the coach had announced that he was staying to Saracen right before that final play. It sounds corny, but coaches get caught up in the drama. I could see it happening.

I gotta say, I hear everyone say all this different stuff about the football...
    Too much
    Not enough
    It's horrible

While the first two are pretty subjective as far as the proper amount, I don't understand the general criticism of the football. I can't say I ever hear anything really pointed out? Is it the action itself? The way it's shot? Someone clue me in here, because it's never bothered me.

I did not see tonight's episode but I am not surprised that they won state. Being that the show is not about the real panthers like the movie or the book.

The thing is one it would piss more people off if they finished the game next season. It would piss me off enough to where I would not see it again.

Also either the FNL Crew or NBC knows if they will be coming back next season. That is what has been discussed to death.

Also regarding the coach Taylor going to TMU. He will leave Dillon and Connie will stay in Dillon with her daughter and she will continue to date the star QB until he graduates and guess what guys and girls???

He gets scholarship to play QB for Taylor again at TMU and Connie and there daughter moves to Austin anyways before he gets fired and the series ends because NBC are idiots and will not renew for another season.

It really didn't occur to me until the last few weeks, but more than anything, FNL is superbly written. Feels absolutely real. The conversations make sense, the dialogue is totally natural, there are hardly ever any lines that make me cringe from their cheesiness. I really hope this show makes it back next year.

As for the complaint about the football always coming down to Riggins, Smash, or Saracen, I think you're asking a lot if you want a show like this to be an accurate representation of football. It's not on ESPN, it's an NBC nighttime drama. The audience goes way beyond just the folks who are mentally charting plays in their head. Yes, like me.
