If Voodoo is somehow back in some capacity, I'd sure like to see him develop a bit, if only as something other than the stereotypical "angry black guy/doesn't listen to coaches/just here to get mine/calls the latino kid a wetback" portrait that was painted this season. Maybe if it weren't contrasted so blatantly with Saracen -- the plucky white QB who tries hard and plays within himself and always does what he's told and knows Jackson Pollock paintings -- it wouldn't be as bad. But that was the one character miss-step I thought the writers made this season.

I don't know if the actor who played Bobby Reyes, the kid who was kicked off the team for beating up Landry's buddy, is good enough or experienced enough to be developed a little more, but it would be interesting if they brought him back and developed him a bit more. (At least then we'd know one defensive player.) It was never stated whether he was a senior or junior. Obviously Latino kids are a pretty large presence in Texas high schools. Or in the absence of that, how about some sort of Brian Chavez-type kid? The Latino kid bound for Harvard.

Perhaps Lyla goes to TMU. Can't see any plausible reason at this point for her to stay in Dillon. But I'm sure they could come up with one if they wanted to.
The idea of focusing on two schools is interesting, but personally, I hope they don't let the story drift too much from a single group of high school kids and their families. It can be a changing group, but it should be just one group.
This show already has a lot of characters, adding twice as many would mighty complicate things and make it very hard to have them all be well-drawn. And it risks taking on the sort of disconnected feel Lost has had for much of this season, where you'll go several episodes at a time without seeing people you've become invested in.

How about Lyla is knocked up and she doesn't know who the father is until 6th episode, by the time the new season rolls around she'll have left TMU to come to handle her pregnancy and figure out who is baby daddy. Typical Texas small town, head cheerleader knocked up by star QB who fails to make it in the big time, comes home to work in daddy's car dealership and forever remembering the glory days of the time he won STATE. This time the twist is that the father isn't the star QB but the renegade full back she had a second affair with after he was dumped by his MILF and she was still angry at daddy for fucking the hot slut's, with a heart of gold, mother.

That's a great thought, and an even better sentence.

Haven't you heard of a little thing called the Americans with Disabilities Act? I'm almost positive it has stipulations regarding high school coaches.

Does everyone assume that next season will take place during the next football season? They left an awful lot of in there and it seems it would be kind of hard to just gloss over it and we come back with coach at TMU. I think they really almost need to pick it up right where it left off because we still don't know what was going to happen, and obviously this would be the biggest decision of his life, so you couldn't have a few months elapse without making up his mind, either. Interesting to see where it'll go. I have no idea what way they'll go but I think the show will work better if he stays, and I don't think it'll be that difficult to find reasons to keep the kids around (already did with Street) and probably introduce one or two new characters.

Not in High School but the University of Maryland had a situation where a player, I think it was a QB, was seriously injured and left in a wheel chair. Maybe he signed a letter of intent and was hurt in HS and the school honored its scholarship committment. He did go to work for the athletic department?, then became a sideline reporter for the radio broadcasts.
Maybe someone can fleshout the details.

I'd like to see one of the central characters next season be an offensive lineman. That be kind of cool; they could delve into the overweight lineman issue and also the lack of spotlight in relation to the player's importance. Be kinda fun.

I like it. I'd rather see that than more Emo Riggins :D

Friday Night Lights is interested in having Rosie guest star in several episodes this coming season: http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Exclusive-Rosie-Friday/800018789

yeah, I'd buy Rosie as a coach at a rural Texas high school. Why don't they bring in Joe Pesci as the principal, Trump as a land investor and Paris Hilton as the sex ed teacher while they're at it. Please stay away from the stunt casting NBC. Please. We like this show because it seems kinda real.

Well, that blog entry also says Taylor is staying. Doubt she drives to TMU to get pissed off about something going on at Dillon. And doubt the college women's soccer coach bothers with the QB coach at TMU.
