Hey, I have a Razr. Does this mean I was trendy for a minute?

And if I had an iPod, there's no way in hell I'd pay that much for an iPhone, especially a first-generation one. Since I don't have an iPod, I considered it for about a minute. Still not getting one.

Where I'm from, trendy means broke and I work too hard to be broke.

I'll get one in a year or so, when iPhone 2.0 hits and iPhone 1.0 has a major price drop. Hell, I didn't get a Razr until Cingular dropped the price to $29.99.

I still have never paid for a cell phone, so I don't feel like I can kvetch about my 20th-century model I carry around. The numbers and letters are worn off the keypad and I'm starting to have some keybounce issues. Sometimes I really have to mash the "1" key, also.

I'd love the iPhone, but will probably never get one.

I'm not interested mostly because I only use a cell phone to, um, talk on the phone.

I also have never paid for a cell phone. Some how actually got paid for one once. It cost $30 with the plan but there was a $50 rebate. If I could swing one of those deals with iPhone then maybe I'd consider.

I voted for later, but I wish there was a fourth choice. Later, when the prize comes down to about half of cost when it debuts. That's an awful lot of cash.

As soon as I don't have to deal with fucking AT&T, and as soon as I have $500 in disposable cash..I'm in.

Sadly, that will be February 31st.

just keep your current phone and buy $500 worth of Apple stock and see what happens...maybe you can buy one with the proceeds some day ;-)

Really you should think about a new phone, I feel bad for you. Secondly, as long as AT & A(s?) holes are the only carrier there is no way I will ever buy one. I love the idea of the phone and this is the wave of the future but not at those prices. I will wait until everyone has one before I pay that kind of money for an unnecessary item.

I'm sure I'll pick one up about a year before they become obsolete.

That's exactly what happens to me, over and over again. Nice to see I'm not alone.

Give Apple's ad people a lot of credit. Instead of going cute or trendy or whatever, they put the emphasis on all the cool shit it can do, leaving the phone element for last. To them, it's not a phone that does stuff, it's an iPod/web browser that you can use as a phone. The people buying it aren't thinking "hey, $600 phone", they're thinking "hey, iPod with web functionality and a phone comes with it."
